Civil servant Gail Tham, 40, experienced a complete loss of mobile signal for over 30 hours on March 16 and 17, and again faced intermittent connectivity on March 18. “I can’t afford to lose connection tomorrow anymore, as I have an event,” Tham stated, highlighting the real-world consequences of these disruptions for Singtel’s 4.5 million subscribers, representing roughly half of the Singaporean mobile market. Singtel maintains there was no network outage, attributing the problems to “momentary congestion.” A spokesperson stated the issue has been resolved and thanked customers for their understanding. Preliminary investigations into the March 16 and 17 outages did not indicate any cyber-related activity, according to the IMDA.
