Alyssa Farah Griffin’s Advice for ‘The View’ Fill-Ins: Be Authentic & Respectful

Alyssa Farah Griffin’s Advice for ‘The View’ Fill-Ins: Be Authentic & Respectful

March 2, 2026 Laura Fontaine - Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Alyssa Farah Griffin’s maternity leave from The View is prompting a reshuffling of the daytime talk display’s panel, and with it, a bit of advice from the departing co-host. As Griffin prepares to welcome her first child, she’s offered guidance to the guest hosts stepping into her role – particularly those newer to the often-heated discussions around the table. The core message? Authenticity, and a genuine respect for the women she shares the stage with.

Griffin is expected to have her final show before her leave on February 13th, with Savannah Chrisley set to be the first guest co-host starting February 17th, according to Deadline. Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Abby Huntsman are also slated to return, filling in during Griffin’s absence. But it’s the newcomers, Griffin emphasized, who could benefit most from a simple directive: be yourself.

Navigating the Roundtable: Authenticity as a Guiding Principle

In advice shared on a recent episode of “Behind The Table,” Griffin stressed the importance of genuine expression. “To some who haven’t been at the table, authentically be yourself,” she said. “It’s The View, each of us brings our own View. You are not here as a Republican party spokesperson. You’re not here as a defender of the administration. You’re not here as an opponent — you are there to say authentically what you believe when presented with the issues of the day.” This sentiment, she explained, is what resonates most with the audience. It takes time, she admitted, to learn to present that authentic self on air, but it’s a crucial element for connecting with viewers.

Griffin’s own journey on The View, which began during Season 26, highlighted this learning curve. She noted that it took her time to realize the power of simply being genuine. “It comes through more with the audience when they’re like, ‘I know they’re saying what they genuinely believe rather than what they’re supposed to,’” she explained.

Beyond Politics: The Importance of Collaborative Relationships

Although, Griffin’s advice extended beyond simply voicing one’s opinions. She also emphasized the importance of fostering positive relationships with her co-hosts. “And enjoy the women at the table,” she urged. “The most important thing to me, and I appreciated how collaborative you were and me bringing you suggestions of people to fill in is I respect and love my co-hosts. So I want people who are going to respect and love them and treat them like — you want to treat it like you’re having coffee or a meal with your girlfriends who have different viewpoints than you.”

This emphasis on interpersonal dynamics isn’t surprising, given the show’s history. Joy Behar, a longtime co-host, recently acknowledged enjoying a personal rapport with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, despite any on-air disagreements, calling her “a good kid” in a podcast appearance, as reported by CinemaBlend. Savannah Chrisley herself initially anticipated friction with Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, but found the experience surprisingly collaborative, attributing it to her own willingness to engage respectfully.

A Pattern of Challenges: Past Co-Hosts and the View Dynamic

Griffin’s advice seems to be a direct response to the experiences of previous co-hosts who struggled to navigate the show’s complex environment. Meghan McCain, for example, described the show as a “hostile” work environment, although Candace Cameron Bure found it “difficult” to voice her opinions, according to CinemaBlend. These experiences underscore the importance of finding a balance between strong convictions and respectful dialogue.

The show’s format, designed to showcase diverse perspectives, inherently creates opportunities for conflict. But Griffin’s message suggests that success on The View isn’t solely about winning arguments; it’s about building relationships and fostering a genuine exchange of ideas.

Baby Griffin Arrives: A New Chapter for the Co-Host

Griffin’s departure comes as she and her husband, Justin Griffin, welcomed their son, Justin Patrick Griffin Jr., on February 10th. Whoopi Goldberg announced the happy news on the February 11th episode, sharing that both mother and baby are doing well, as USA Today reported. The little one weighed in at 7lbs and 19.5 inches at birth.

As Griffin embarks on this new chapter, her advice serves as a valuable reminder for those stepping into her shoes: bring your authentic self, respect your colleagues, and embrace the opportunity for meaningful conversation. The show’s producers clearly hope this approach will maintain the dynamic energy that has made The View a daytime television staple for decades.

The upcoming weeks will reveal how the guest co-hosts integrate into the panel. The show’s executive producer, Brian Teta, told Deadline that the selections were “all about a different point of view at the table,” and people “who are good at this job or who have the potential to be good at this job.” Whether that potential translates into a harmonious and engaging roundtable remains to be seen.
