Coronation Street’s Katy Cavanagh & Son Jacobi Jupe at Actor Awards 2026

Los Angeles, March 2, 2026 – Coronation Street alumna Katy Cavanagh was a proud mother on the red carpet at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards, accompanied by her 12-year-aged son, Jacobi Jupe, star of the critically acclaimed film Hamnet.

Cavanagh, who played Julie Carp on the long-running ITV soap, looked radiant in a black sequined gown, a departure from her character’s more familiar wardrobe. She accessorized with emerald earrings and a striking red lip, completing a glamorous glance for the evening. Jacobi, meanwhile, opted for a gold sequined blazer paired with black trousers, presenting a dapper and sophisticated appearance.

The Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards, celebrated acting talent at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall. The event drew a constellation of stars ahead of the upcoming March 15 Academy Awards ceremony.

Cavanagh’s presence at the awards show highlights a burgeoning family affair in the entertainment industry. She is also supporting her eldest son, Noah, 20, in his acting career. Both Jacobi and Noah appear in Hamnet, with Jacobi taking on the titular role of Shakespeare’s son and Noah portraying an actor performing Hamlet, the play believed to be inspired by the tragedy of Hamnet’s death.

The 32nd Annual Actor Awards saw a number of significant wins. Owen Cooper, at just 16 years old, broke records as the youngest individual winner in the ceremony’s history, taking home a prize for his performance in Adolescence. Cooper’s win marks a remarkable achievement, surpassing the previous record held by Kate Winslet, who was 20 when she received her first award for Sense and Sensibility.

Cooper’s success with Adolescence has been sweeping this awards season. He previously won a Primetime Emmy for a supporting role in a limited series and a Golden Globe for best supporting actor on television, all while still studying for his GCSEs. He was not present to accept his Actor Award, with presenters Damson Idris and Yerin Ha announcing his win.

Jessie Buckley also enjoyed a triumphant night, completing a clean sweep of awards season recognition with the Best Actress prize for her leading role in Hamnet. She beat out a competitive field including Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson and Emma Stone. Buckley paid tribute to her co-star Emily Watson during her acceptance speech, praising Watson’s “wild imagination” and “brave untethered womanhood.”

While Buckley was celebrated, Paul Mescal, also a star of Hamnet, did not win in the Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor in a Supporting Role category, with Sean Penn taking the prize for One Battle After Another.

The Actor Awards recognized a diverse range of talent across film and television. Other notable nominees included Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Jessie Buckley for Hamnet, and ensembles from films like Frankenstein, Marty Supreme, and Sinners. The television categories featured recognition for series such as The Diplomat, Landman, and The White Lotus.

The evening underscored the growing prominence of British and Irish talent on the international stage. Owen Cooper and Jessie Buckley’s wins, alongside nominations for other British actors, demonstrate the continued strength and influence of performers from the UK and Ireland in Hollywood.

Cavanagh’s appearance with her sons at the Actor Awards is a testament to the evolving dynamics within the entertainment industry, where familial support and multi-generational talent are increasingly common. Her transition into a “showbiz ‘momager’” role reflects a proactive approach to nurturing her children’s careers and navigating the complexities of the industry.
