Gymnast Joins DJ Bobo’s Tour: Performing with the ‘Chihuahua’ Star

The high-energy world of DJ Bobo is getting a surprising athletic boost: Swiss gymnast Flavie Beuchat is joining his European tour, bringing her skills to stages across Germany, Poland, and Switzerland. The collaboration, announced earlier this week, sees the multi-medaled gymnast performing routines alongside the Swiss music artist best known for his 2003 hit “Chihuahua.”

Beuchat, a rising star in Swiss gymnastics, wasn’t actively seeking a role in a pop concert tour. Instead, she responded to a call from the Swiss Gymnastics Federation, which was looking for athletes proficient in apparatus work to accompany DJ Bobo on stage. From an initial pool of fifty candidates, only six were selected, and Beuchat made the cut. Her performances will feature work on the rings, floor exercise, and dance choreography – a new challenge for the athlete.

“Everything that has to do with dance, choreography, I’m not used to, but with training it will work,” Beuchat assured RFJ, a Swiss regional radio station. RFJ’s report highlights the significant difference between the precision required in competitive gymnastics and the more free-flowing, entertainment-focused nature of the tour. “It’s nothing like the competitions where you have to be very precise. It’s more about fun. We’re not judged on our performance. The people who come aren’t used to seeing this,” she explained.

This isn’t Beuchat’s first taste of success. In November 2024, the 19-year-old gymnast secured a silver medal in the all-around competition at the Swiss Gymnastics Championships in Kirchberg, adding to a growing list of accolades. RFJ detailed her performance, noting her gold medal wins in the uneven bars and vault during the same competition. She’s a consistent performer for Fémina-Sport Glovelier, consistently placing among the top gymnasts in Switzerland.

DJ Bobo’s Continued European Draw

Although DJ Bobo’s “Chihuahua” remains his signature song, the tour demonstrates his continued popularity, particularly in Germany. According to Beuchat, many dates on the German leg of the tour are already sold out, indicating a strong fanbase. The tour kicked off with performances at Europa-Park in January and will continue through late April to late June, with stops planned in Germany, Poland, and a performance in Zürich.
