Jack White Criticizes Trump Over Iran Strikes & ‘Board of Peace’

Jack White Criticizes Trump Over Iran Strikes & ‘Board of Peace’

March 2, 2026 Laura Fontaine - Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Jack White, the acclaimed musician and frontman for The White Stripes, has sharply criticized Donald Trump’s response to the recent U.S. And Israeli aerial strikes in Iran. The musician took to Instagram on Saturday, February 28th, to condemn the president’s actions following the launch of Operation Epic Fury, a military campaign targeting Iran’s nuclear program. White’s comments underscore his long-standing opposition to Trump’s policies and rhetoric.

The musician’s post, accompanied by a still from Trump’s televised address, didn’t shy away from pointed critique. “Don’t you love seeing him declare war on a country while wearing a trucker hat that says ‘USA’ on it?” White wrote. He continued, sarcastically referring to Trump’s newly established “Board of Peace” – an initiative intended to promote stability in conflict zones – as the “leader of the ‘Board of Peace.’” White suggested a more theatrical approach for future war announcements, proposing Trump recline on the Resolute Desk while enjoying a Big Mac in a velvet tracksuit.

The “Board of Peace” and a History of Aggression

Trump formally established the Board of Peace in early 2026, positioning it as a novel approach to resolving global conflicts. However, White’s post highlights what he sees as a stark contradiction between this initiative and the president’s history of aggressive foreign policy. He listed a series of countries – Venezuela, Greenland, Iran, and Cuba – questioning the consistency of Trump’s approach to international relations. According to a Reuters report, the mechanics of how Trump’s Board of Peace will interact with the UN Security Council remain unclear.

White’s criticism extended to the human cost of these conflicts, writing, “don jr. And barron won’t have to fight or die, just other people’s children, so… invade and bomb away!” He also mocked the idea of membership in the “Board of Peace,” suggesting a starting bid of $1 billion. He ended with a sarcastic jab at Trump’s repeated, yet unrealized, aspirations for a Nobel Peace Prize, suggesting he might receive one in a potential third term.

A Pattern of Public Condemnation

This isn’t White’s first public rebuke of the former president. He has consistently used his platform to voice his disapproval of Trump’s policies and character. Most recently, as Billboard reported, White condemned Trump for posting a racist video depicting Michelle and Barack Obama as apes. “How is it possible we’ve given this evil man so much power?” he asked at the time. In 2023, White publicly called out those who “normalize” Trump, labeling them as “disgusting” and characterizing the former president as a “disgusting fascist, racist, con man, disgusting piece of s—t.”

White’s outspokenness extends beyond political commentary. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November 2025, cementing his legacy as a significant figure in contemporary music. His willingness to engage in political discourse, however, has become a defining characteristic of his public persona.

Operation Epic Fury and Trump’s Response

The immediate catalyst for White’s latest comments was Trump’s announcement of Operation Epic Fury. Addressing the nation on Saturday, Trump characterized the Iranian regime as “very wicked, radical dictatorship” and justified the strikes as necessary to prevent further aggression. He acknowledged the potential for American casualties, stating, “The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost and we may have casualties. That often happens in war, but we’re doing this not for now. We’re doing this for the future, and It’s a noble mission.” A PBS News Hour report provides the full text of Trump’s statement.

The strikes themselves, conducted in coordination with Israel, were aimed at targeting Iran’s nuclear program, according to NBC News. The operation has drawn international scrutiny and sparked concerns about potential escalation in the region.

Beyond White: Wider Celebrity Reaction

Jack White wasn’t the only celebrity to weigh in on the situation. Rosie O’Donnell, a longtime critic of Trump, also shared her reaction on Instagram, reposting past comments made by the former president. As HuffPost noted, O’Donnell’s response highlighted the perceived hypocrisy in Trump’s rhetoric regarding peace and war.

The broader entertainment industry response to Operation Epic Fury is still unfolding, but White’s vocal criticism sets a tone of opposition that is likely to be echoed by other artists and public figures.

As of now, there’s no indication of a formal response from the Trump campaign to White’s comments. The musician is currently focused on his ongoing musical endeavors, with no immediate tour dates or album releases announced. However, given his history of political engagement, it’s likely he will continue to use his platform to voice his opinions on current events.
