Czech actor Stanislav Majer, celebrated for his roles in film, television, and theatre – including a recent Czech Lion Award win for his supporting performance in Vlny (Waves) – is the new face of Volvo in the Czech Republic. The partnership was unveiled not with a standard press release, but with a playful video posted to social media, referencing a beloved classic of Czech cinema.

Majer’s introduction to the Volvo brand, specifically the XC60 SUV, is presented as a comedic narrative. The video, produced in collaboration with Cardion Cars, a Volvo dealership, leans heavily into a familiar cultural touchstone: a film featuring a character meticulously polishing a car. While the exact plot details remain under wraps, the allusion has quickly captured attention online.

The choice of the XC60 isn’t accidental. Volvo’s best-selling SUV, the model Majer has chosen, comes in a high-spec T8 AWD Plug-in hybrid configuration. This version boasts a substantial 299 kW (406 horsepower) and 669 Nm of torque, allowing for a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.9 seconds.
