Liema Wins Big Brother Mzansi Season 6: R2 Million Prize & Redemption Story

Johannesburg, South Africa – March 23, 2026 – Liema Pantsi has been crowned the winner of ‘Big Brother Mzansi’ Season 6, securing the R2 million grand prize. The victory, announced on Sunday, March 22nd, marks a triumphant return for Pantsi, who previously competed on the show in 2024.

The finale, dubbed the “Bazozwa” season, proved to be one of the most closely contested in the show’s history. Pantsi garnered 33.84% of the votes, narrowly defeating fan favorite Thandeka, who received 29.97%. Bravo B finished third with 14.90% of the vote. The results sparked a flurry of reactions online, with supporters of both finalists expressing their opinions.

Pantsi’s journey this season was defined by resilience and a clear focus on the prize. Unlike her previous appearance, where she explored personal connections within the house, she remained singularly focused on winning the R2 million. This strategic shift resonated with her fanbase, known as the “Lilies,” and ultimately propelled her to victory.

The win is particularly meaningful given Pantsi’s previous experience on the show. After an unexpected exit from the S’yamosha house in 2024, she channeled her newfound fame into a burgeoning music career, collaborating with prominent South African artists including Cici, DJ Zinhle, Mthunzi, Mörda, Thabsie, and Majorsteez. Her return to ‘Big Brother Mzansi’ represented a chance at redemption and a significant financial opportunity.

Anita Maliti, Pantsi’s mother, expressed immense pride in her daughter’s accomplishment. “Liema is such a hustler,” Maliti told Drum magazine. “She’s not one to give up in life. She’s been hungry to win at life. When she wants something, she goes all out for it.” Maliti revealed that Pantsi intends to use the prize money to launch a property business and establish a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable children from disadvantaged backgrounds in her hometown in the Eastern Cape.

Maliti also shared her initial skepticism about her daughter’s participation in the show, both times. “I was sceptical about her initially. I didn’t want her to proceed due to the fact that I thought she was too young at the time, but eventually, I decided to release her because she wasn’t going to let go of the dream until she pursued it. And people loved her.” She added that even as she initially questioned the value of a second attempt on the show, she ultimately trusted her daughter’s determination.

Pantsi’s resilience and unwavering faith were also highlighted by her mother. “She carries the bible and sleeps with it. She also had a song that she sang in the house that said, ‘Come down, my Lord and let my enemies be scattered’. And now the enemies have indeed scattered because the Lord has pulled through for her.”

The Season 6 finale of ‘Big Brother Mzansi’ broke records, attracting over 5.5 million views on YouTube and generating significant engagement across TikTok, Facebook, and X. The show’s popularity underscores its continued cultural relevance in South Africa. The inclusion of four returning housemates added an extra layer of intrigue and nostalgia, captivating audiences throughout the season.

While Pantsi’s victory was celebrated by her supporters, Thandeka’s fans expressed disappointment, with some claiming she was “robbed” of the crown. Social media saw a surge of support for Thandeka, with some fans even initiating a GoFundMe campaign to raise R1 million for her. One social media user commented, “The real winner this season is Thandeka. The other girl had been on this show before and already had a half-million fan base established.”

Another fan wrote, “The way I screamed, I commented on a post about 2 weeks ago that I hope Liema wins because she stood up for those who couldn’t stand up for themselves, and as a mother to a young girl who was bullied, I could only hope there was a Liema around to stand up for my baby. Thalians came for me, but this win is so personal. I’m in tears.”

Liema Pantsi’s win represents not only a personal triumph but also a testament to her perseverance and strategic gameplay. As she embarks on her new ventures in property and philanthropy, she leaves behind a legacy as one of the most compelling contestants in ‘Big Brother Mzansi’ history.
