Spacey Jane Release New Single ‘Do You Really Love Her’ & Announce US Tour Dates
Australian indie rock band Spacey Jane are hitting the road this summer, announcing an extensive U.S. Tour alongside the release of their recent single, “Do You Really Love Her.” The track, which frontman Caleb Harper describes as a creative experiment, didn’t quite fit on their critically acclaimed 2025 album, If That Makes Sense, but the band felt compelled to share it with fans.
The tour kicks off June 2nd in New Haven, Connecticut, and includes appearances at major festivals like Governors Ball in New York (June 6th), Bonnaroo in Tennessee (June 14th), and Osheaga in Montreal (August 2nd). Spacey Jane will also be supporting Rainbow Kitten Surprise on a series of amphitheater dates throughout July, with stops planned for Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre (July 21st) and Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Denver (July 25th). Artist presale for tour tickets begins March 17th at 10 a.m. Local time, with the general on-sale following on March 20th.
A Deliberate Detour From ‘If That Makes Sense’
“For some reason the song didn’t experience like the right fit for the album but we always wanted it to see the light of day,” Harper explained in a statement. The single was written on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles with collaborators Sarah Aarons and Joel Little, and produced by John Hill. It draws inspiration from classic Australian pub rock, with Harper specifically citing bands like INXS, The Church, and Icehouse as nostalgic and inspirational influences. Spacey Jane are clearly leaning into a sound that feels both familiar and fresh.
This release, and others to follow, are being framed by the band as “experiments” – songs they loved that didn’t land on If That Makes Sense, but deserve an audience. It’s a strategy that suggests a willingness to explore different facets of their sound and connect with fans on a more immediate level, outside the traditional album cycle.
Building Momentum After a Breakthrough Year
Spacey Jane’s rise has been steady, culminating in a breakout 2025. If That Makes Sense, released in May 2025 via AWAL, debuted at number two on the ARIA Albums Chart. The album also garnered nominations for Best Rock Album and Best Video at the 2025 ARIA Awards. Notably, the band was also named the most played artist on Triple J for the year, a significant achievement for an Australian act. If That Makes Sense was produced by Mike Crossey, known for his work with The 1975 and Arctic Monkeys, and written alongside Day Wave and Sarah Aarons.
The band’s journey began with their 2020 debut album, Sunlight, which spawned the hit single “Booster Seat.” That track went on to win the ARIA Award for Song of the Year and has been certified 7x platinum in Australia, solidifying Spacey Jane’s position as a major force in the Australian music scene. The success of “Booster Seat” provided a strong foundation for their subsequent work and helped build a dedicated fanbase.
From Perth to the Global Stage
Spacey Jane’s story is one of deliberate growth and international ambition. The band’s early success in Australia fueled a desire to replicate that success on a global scale. As Harper told The Luna Collective in April 2025, “What we’ve been able to achieve in Australia, with the support of some of our amazing fans there, we want to replicate everywhere around the world.” This ambition led to a relocation to Los Angeles for Harper and a focused effort to build a presence in the U.S. And UK.
The band’s longest break from touring to-date allowed them the space to write and record If That Makes Sense, and to strategically plan their international expansion. They’ve already demonstrated their ability to connect with audiences outside of Australia through intimate shows in New York City and Los Angeles, and the upcoming U.S. Tour is a significant step towards cementing their status as a global indie rock act.
Beyond the Tour: A Live Album and Continued Experimentation
The band isn’t just focused on touring and new singles. They’re also releasing a live album, Live at The Hordern Pavilion (Sydney, NSW) 2025, on Record Store Day this April. The album captures performances from three sold-out nights at the iconic Sydney venue, offering fans a glimpse into the energy of a Spacey Jane live indicate. As described by Genius, the album If That Makes Sense embodies a mixture of the identities of both of Spacey Jane’s previous albums.
With a clear vision for their artistic direction and a willingness to experiment, Spacey Jane are poised to continue their upward trajectory. The release of “Do You Really Love Her” and the announcement of the U.S. Tour are just the latest chapters in a story that’s still unfolding.
Looking Ahead: Tour Routing and Album Follow-Up
The band’s tour routing suggests a strategic focus on key markets and festival appearances. Supporting Rainbow Kitten Surprise provides an opportunity to reach a wider audience, while the headlining dates allow them to showcase their own sound to dedicated fans. The band has confirmed a U.S. Tour is in the works, but specific dates beyond the initial run are still to be announced. As for a follow-up to If That Makes Sense, Harper’s comments about “experiments” suggest that the band is already exploring new sonic territories and may release music outside of the traditional album format.
