Taylor Swift’s Irish Rental Home Hits the Market for $6 Million
The Dublin real estate market just got a significant dose of celebrity cachet. The five-bedroom house on Clonskeagh Road, once rented by Taylor Swift during the summer of 2021, has been listed for sale at €5.25 million (approximately $6 million), according to multiple reports.
Swift occupied the property while her then-boyfriend, actor Joe Alwyn, filmed the Hulu series Conversations With Friends. The home, a two-story residence extending to approximately 375 square meters (4,036 square feet), is located in the sought-after Dublin 6 neighborhood. It blends period character with contemporary design, offering prospective buyers an elegant and spacious living environment.
The property’s owner, travel entrepreneur Bob Haugh, reportedly wasn’t aware of the identity of his tenant until after a friend in the music industry requested a video tour. Haugh then tuned the house’s mahogany piano in anticipation of Swift’s arrival, hoping she might play during her stay. The gesture was apparently appreciated; Swift left the Haugh family a signed photograph with a message of gratitude.
Beyond the celebrity connection, the house itself boasts notable features. It’s accessed via electronic gates and includes two interconnecting reception rooms. The rear sitting room overlooks a beautifully landscaped garden, maintaining the home’s elegant character with a period fireplace and original architectural details. The property also includes a renovated two-story coach house and a garage.
Swift’s time in Ireland clearly left an impression on the artist, extending beyond a simple rental agreement. Her 2022 album, Midnights, contains lyrical references to her experiences in the country. The song “Sweet Nothing” specifically mentions a pebble collected in County Wicklow during July, questioning whether the location “misses Wicklow sometimes.” County Wicklow, known for its rugged landscapes and Viking history, is located just south of Dublin.
Swift also took time to visit Donegal, in the north of Ireland, posting a photo on Instagram of herself strolling on Portsalon Beach. This further cemented the connection between her Irish sojourn and her creative output.
Haugh and his family purchased the property two decades ago, transforming it from a dilapidated building divided into separate units into a modern single-family home. They collaborated with de Blacam and Meagher Architects to restore period features like detailed cornicing, ceiling roses, and architraves, while also incorporating contemporary design elements. Garden designer Paul Doyle sculpted the grounds, adding cherry and mulberry trees to the landscape.
The Haughs are now undertaking a self-build project nearby, prompting the sale of the Clonskeagh Road property. The listing is being handled by Louise Kenny of Lisney Sotheby’s International Realty.
The listing arrives as Swift continues her record-breaking Eras Tour, and following her recent engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. While her personal life continues to dominate headlines, the sale of this Dublin residence offers a tangible link to a quieter, more reflective period in her life – a summer spent in Ireland that clearly inspired her artistry.
For fans of Swift’s more introspective work, particularly Folklore and Midnights, the property represents more than just a luxury home. As Swift herself remarked during her Dublin Eras Tour stop, “Folklore in general, it just belongs in Ireland.” The house, offers a unique opportunity to own a piece of the landscape that shaped one of her most critically acclaimed albums.
