Tereza Brodská: Ulice Filming Was Exhausting & Took a Toll on Cast

Tereza Brodská: Ulice Filming Was Exhausting & Took a Toll on Cast

March 22, 2026 Laura Fontaine - Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Czech actress Tereza Brodská is preparing to depart the long-running television series Ulice (The Street) once again, marking the end of her current two-year contract. The news, initially shared during a live Instagram broadcast with Agáta Hanychová, confirms a planned exit for the actress, who has a deep history with the popular drama.

Brodská first appeared in Ulice when it premiered in 2005, playing the role of Bára Jordánová. She remained with the show for five years before initially leaving, only to reprise the character in 2024. This second return, although, was always intended to be temporary. “It was a deal. I had a contract for two years,” Brodská explained, according to reporting from Žena.cz.

Early Days Were Demanding

The intensity of early production on Ulice is something Brodská has spoken about candidly. In a past interview on Frekvence 1 radio, she recalled the grueling schedule faced by the original cast and crew. “We were doing it with just a few people at the beginning. I have to say that everyone took a hit on their health after a year or two,” she shared. The radio interview detailed 12-to-13-hour workdays followed by the requirement to memorize 25 pages of script each night. While acknowledging the difficulty, Brodská also noted the team adapted over time.

A Familiar Face in a Long-Running Drama

Ulice, which translates to The Street, is a cornerstone of Czech television, currently in its 21st season and having surpassed 5090 episodes as of early 2026, according to Trendy Svet. The show’s longevity makes Brodská’s presence – both initial and returning – particularly significant for viewers. The Jordán family, of which Bára is a central figure, represents one of the series’ most enduring storylines.

Brodská’s departure comes as the series continues to evolve. The return of the Jordán family alongside the introduction of new characters, like the son of Vránová, signals a continued effort to refresh the narrative while maintaining connections to its established history. The show’s producers are clearly balancing the need for change with the desire to honor its legacy.

What’s Next for Brodská?

While Brodská is finishing up filming on Ulice through April, she remains open about her future plans. “I’m finishing the series in April and then I’m free. I don’t know what I’ll do, something will come, I’m leaving it to fate. It’s not a big deal, there will be something else, something new,” she told Agáta Hanychová. She also expressed a desire for a period of domesticity, playfully describing her aspirations to embrace the role of a “Japanese woman who has everything tidy, cooked, and even bows.”

This isn’t the first time Brodská has contemplated life beyond Ulice. Her husband, photographer Herbert Slavík, is a well-known figure in Czech media, and the couple has maintained a remarkably stable marriage for over three decades. This strong personal life provides a foundation for Brodská to explore new opportunities without pressure.

The Jordán Family’s Legacy and Potential Future

The fate of Bára Jordánová’s toy shop, a key element of her character’s storyline, remains unclear. Reports suggest speculation among fans about whether the business will continue under new management or if Brodská’s character will maintain an “imaginary” presence within the show, similar to other departed characters.

The show’s producers have not yet commented on specific plans for the Jordán family storyline following Brodská’s exit. However, the show’s history demonstrates a willingness to adapt and introduce new dynamics while respecting established characters and narratives.

Brodská’s final scenes are expected to air in the coming weeks, offering fans a chance to bid farewell to a beloved character. The actress’s departure marks another significant shift for Ulice, but also opens the door for new stories and possibilities within the ever-evolving world of the series.

Looking Ahead: Brodská’s immediate schedule involves completing her remaining commitments to Ulice. Beyond April, her plans are intentionally open-ended, allowing for flexibility as she considers future projects. The actress’s willingness to embrace the unknown suggests a continued openness to new challenges and opportunities in the entertainment industry.
