The Madison Season 2: Updates on Release Date, Cast & Taylor Sheridan’s Show

The Madison Season 2: Updates on Release Date, Cast & Taylor Sheridan’s Show

March 21, 2026 Laura Fontaine - Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Is a second season of Taylor Sheridan’s The Madison headed to Paramount+? The question hung in the air as the six-episode first season concluded its run on Saturday, March 21st, following the Clyburn family’s relocation to Montana. While the initial run has wrapped, the story isn’t necessarily over – and a continuation is already further along than many viewers might realize.

A Second Season Already Filmed?

Despite the recent finale, The Madison isn’t facing the typical cliffhanger of uncertainty. Kurt Russell, a central figure in the series alongside Michelle Pfeiffer, revealed in a January interview with Entertainment Weekly that a second season had already been filmed. This unusual situation stemmed from scheduling conflicts. Russell had committed to another project, Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which overlapped with the initial planned production timeline for The Madison.

“I did the second season of Monarch [Legacy of Monsters], the Apple TV show, and unfortunately for me, the timing was when Madison came around,” Russell explained. To accommodate Russell’s availability, Sheridan and Pfeiffer collaborated with Paramount+ to shift the production schedule. “Michelle Pfeiffer and Taylor were able to get together with the people at Paramount+ and said, ‘Well, let’s do two seasons instead of just one,’” Russell recounted. “’And then before we start the second season next year, instead of doing that, we will start with Kurt’s stuff. We really do desire him to play the guy. And we’ll get his first season out of the way first, and jam all that in there, and then go into the second season and do that.’ And so we were able to do that.”

The Clyburn Family and Sheridan’s Expanding Universe

The Madison follows the Clyburn family as they navigate emotional recovery in the wake of a tragedy, relocating from New York City to the Madison River valley in southwest Montana. The ensemble cast includes Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett, Alaina Pollack, Amiah Miller, Ben Schnetzer, Kevin Zegers, Rebecca Spence, and Danielle Vasinova. The series marks a departure for Sheridan, known for his neo-westerns like Yellowstone, Tulsa King, and Mayor of Kingstown, leaning into a more female-centric narrative.

The connection to Sheridan’s broader television universe has been a point of interest for fans. While not a direct spin-off, The Madison exists within the same creative ecosystem. US Magazine explored the links between the shows, noting the shared creative force behind them.

Pfeiffer’s Performance and Sheridan’s Vision

Russell has been effusive in his praise for both Sheridan’s writing and Michelle Pfeiffer’s performance. “Taylor’s excellent, and Michelle [Pfeiffer]’s great, and she’s really great in this show,” he stated. “Talking about awards — I feel they’re going to be looking Michelle’s way.” He further emphasized the compelling nature of Sheridan’s writing, describing it as “extremely well written” and “fun to play.” Russell also highlighted the unique perspective of the series, noting that it’s “a very different show for Taylor in that it’s a very female-gaze-oriented show.” The Hollywood Reporter recently highlighted how the role was a “leap of faith” for Pfeiffer.

Production Wrap and Episode Count

Adding to the confirmation of a second season, Elle Chapman, who plays one of the Clyburn children, announced on social media that production on the second season had wrapped last month. Russell has also confirmed that each season of The Madison is planned to consist of six episodes, aligning with the structure of the first season.

What’s Next for The Madison?

While Paramount+ hasn’t issued a formal release date for season two, the fact that filming is complete suggests a launch sometime in late 2026 is plausible. Given the initial release strategy of airing episodes across two weeks, a similar rollout could be expected. The show’s unique production history – filming a season out of order to accommodate Russell’s schedule – suggests a flexible approach from the studio, potentially allowing for quicker turnaround times between seasons. Fans can anticipate further updates from Paramount+ as the release date approaches, and the continued expansion of Taylor Sheridan’s television empire.
