2027 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: Facelift Details, Engines & Interior Updates
Mercedes-Maybach Unveils Refreshed S-Class with Enhanced Luxury and Technology
Mercedes-Maybach has revealed a significant update to its flagship S-Class sedan, introducing a more commanding exterior design and enhanced interior features. The 2027 model, unveiled this week, boasts a larger grille, illuminated accents and a redesigned interior focused on passenger comfort, and customization.
The most striking visual change is the redesigned grille, now 20 percent larger than its predecessor. It features an illuminated contour and a backlit Maybach wordmark, emphasizing the vehicle’s prestige. The Maybach logo on the C-pillar is also illuminated, and an optional, illuminated three-pointed star hood ornament is available. The headlights now incorporate a prominent three-pointed star motif, with rose gold elements and the Maybach logo integrated into the housing.
Mercedes-Maybach is offering over 150 exterior colors, including new two-tone finishes and a new Nautic Blue shade. New wheel designs are also available, including a 20-inch polished set and a 21-inch set with gold accents. Self-leveling wheel center caps are a new addition, maintaining the Maybach emblem upright even while in motion.
Inside, the S-Class features the MBUX Superscreen, stretching from A-pillar to A-pillar, and offers more than 400 color options for the interior, including four new two-tone leather upholstery combinations pairing Carmine Red, Lake Green, Corn Yellow, and Tobacco Brown with Black. Dual 13.1-inch rear displays provide entertainment and control over comfort features like climate settings and sunshades. The cabin is designed to provide a “cocooning experience” with enhanced sound insulation and a new air suspension system with real-time adaptive damping.
The engine lineup includes the S680 model, which will continue to be offered with a V12 engine in the United States and select other markets. However, in regions with stricter emissions regulations, the S680 will be powered by a V8 engine producing 604 horsepower. The S580 receives a power boost to 530 hp from its turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine. A plug-in hybrid version, the S580e, combines an inline-six gasoline engine with an electric motor, offering a total system output of 577 horsepower and up to 61 miles of electric range based on the WLTP cycle.
Vehicles equipped with the Level 2-certified MB.Drive Assist Pro system will feature cameras built into the front fenders. This technology will initially be available in China and the United States, with potential for European availability pending regulatory approval.
The updated Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is scheduled to arrive at U.S. Dealerships in the latter half of 2026. Order books for the European market open on March 25.
