Carmel Jenkins, a resident of Palmyra, Ballina, County Mayo, has died peacefully at Sonas Riverview Nursing Home, with her son John and daughter Clodagh at her side, according to a death notice. She was formerly of Ranelagh, Dublin 6.
Born Carmel O’Halloran, she was predeceased by her husband, George Jenkins, and her brothers, Michael, Desmond, and Cyril. George Jenkins died in November 2009 at Mayo General Hospital, according to a memorial listing.
Ms. Jenkins is survived by her daughter, Clodagh; her son, John; her granddaughter, Anna; her daughter-in-law, Síofra; and her brother, Kevin. She is also remembered by her sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and the extended Ó Briain family, as well as relatives, neighbours, carers and friends.
Reposing will accept place at McGowan’s Funeral Home in Ballina on Friday evening from 4 p.m., with removal at 5:30 p.m. To St. Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina. A Requiem Mass will be held at the cathedral on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m., followed by burial in St. Michael’s Church of Ireland Church grounds, Church Road, Ballina.
The Funeral Mass will be live streamed on www.ballinaparish.org. The family has requested that family flowers only be sent.
