Four Seasons Bali at Sayan: 2026 Redesign Blends Luxury & Sustainability

Four Seasons Bali at Sayan: 2026 Redesign Blends Luxury & Sustainability

March 8, 2026 David Kessler - News Editor News

Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, nestled in the Ubud region of Bali, is preparing to launch a significant redesign in July 2026. The resort, famed for its distinctive suspended rice bowl architectural design – a landmark established 28 years ago – is undergoing a transformation that prioritizes luxury, sustainability and the preservation of Balinese heritage. The updates focus on enhancing both accommodations and dining experiences with an emphasis on eco-conscious practices and guest comfort.

A Revitalization Rooted in Sustainable Design

The redesign is a collaboration with Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), a leading hospitality design firm. The project introduces seven newly enhanced suite accommodations, including five Premier Duplex Suites and two Family Premier Suites. These suites blend contemporary aesthetics with traditional Balinese elements, creating a serene and environmentally responsible retreat for guests.

The resort’s dining venues are also receiving attention. Ayung Terrace, known for its jungle views, and Jati Bar, overlooking the river valley, are being updated with new furnishings and styling to better integrate with the surrounding natural landscape. The goal is to create spaces that celebrate and protect the beauty of the rice paddies and Ayung River valley.

Honoring Balinese Artistry with Modern Touches

The redesigned suites showcase a fusion of local artistry and modern design. Traditional Balinese textiles and craftsmanship are paired with eco-friendly materials and contemporary elements. Light, earthy fabrics inspired by the region’s rice paddies are complemented by dark, stained wood, creating a sophisticated and inviting atmosphere. The suites also incorporate integrated smart home technology, such as LUTRON lighting systems, for enhanced guest convenience.

The redesign builds upon the resort’s original architectural vision while embracing modern comforts. Each suite is designed to provide a refined environment for relaxation and rejuvenation. Guests can choose from the intimate setting of a Premier Duplex Suite or the spaciousness of a Family Premier Suite, complete with a dedicated children’s room and ample living space.

Commitment to Environmental Responsibility

Sustainability is a core principle driving the redesign. All new guestrooms will feature energy-efficient LED lighting, and the air conditioning systems will utilize eco-friendly refrigerants to minimize the resort’s environmental impact. By optimizing existing infrastructure and prioritizing sustainable materials, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan aims to reduce its carbon footprint. The use of locally sourced materials and skilled Balinese craftsmanship further demonstrates the resort’s dedication to preserving the island’s natural environment.

Elevated Dining Experiences

Dining at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan is being enhanced through updates to Ayung Terrace and Jati Bar. Ayung Terrace, with its panoramic jungle views, now features plush grey sofas, wooden chairs, and marbled tables, creating a vibrant and inviting atmosphere. Jati Bar, a riverside retreat, offers comfortable seating in natural green and grey tones, perfect for enjoying cocktails and light bites while taking in the serene river vistas. The redesigned spaces aim to immerse guests in the natural beauty of Bali.

Recognition and Accolades

This redesign follows a period of significant recognition for the Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan. In 2025, the resort received its first Michelin Key, acknowledging exceptional guest experiences. The Sacred River Spa was awarded a Four-Star rating by Forbes Travel Guide, and Ayung Terrace’s wine list received a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2024. These accolades highlight the resort’s ongoing commitment to providing unforgettable experiences.

The refresh at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan represents a new chapter in luxury hospitality in Bali, blending modern elegance with a deep respect for local culture and environmental sustainability. The updated accommodations, dining spaces, and sustainable initiatives promise an immersive and elevated experience for guests.
