Gibran to Attend Imlek Peak Celebration in Central Jakarta: Traffic Diversions in Place
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is scheduled to attend the peak of the Imlek Nusantara 2026 celebrations at Lapangan Banteng in Central Jakarta this afternoon, February 28, 2026. The event is intended to mark the Lunar New Year and promote cultural harmony. Officials said the Vice President’s presence is confirmed, underscoring the government’s support for cultural diversity in Indonesia.
Kompol Robby Hefados, Head of Operations at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate, confirmed the Vice President’s attendance to reporters on Saturday. Preparations are underway to manage traffic flow during the celebrations, including a parade.
The parade, a key element of the Imlek Nasional celebrations, will begin in front of the Jakarta Cathedral and proceed along a route encompassing Tugu Adipura, the Ministry building, the Post Office, Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara, and finally entering through the western gate of Lapangan Banteng. Temporary road closures will be implemented along the parade route, with traffic resuming to normal once the procession passes.
Authorities have designated six parking areas capable of accommodating up to 1,000 vehicles for attendees. The goal, according to Kompol Hefados, is to minimize disruption to traffic while facilitating the cultural event.
