iHeartRadio Awards 2024: Miley Cyrus, Kehlani & All the Winners & Performances
John Mellencamp received the Icon Award at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles on Tuesday, and immediately dedicated the honor to his daughter, Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave, who is battling stage 4 melanoma.
The “Jack & Diane” singer handed his trophy to Teddi, stating simply, “That’s yours.” The gesture came after Teddi introduced her father and shared how he had been instrumental in supporting her through her cancer journey. “He wasn’t going to let that lyric define my life. He stepped up, took control, fought for me, and pretty much changed my life—saved my life,” she said through tears, referencing the lyrics of his song “Longest Days.”
The iHeartRadio Music Awards also celebrated Miley Cyrus, who was presented with the Innovator Award recognizing her two-decade career in music. Other performers at the event included Kehlani, Alex Warren, Lainey Wilson, TLC, Salt-N-Pepa, and En Vogue.
Mellencamp joins previous Icon Award recipients including Mariah Carey, Cher, Pink, Jennifer Lopez, Elton John, and Bon Jovi. The award recognizes artists with a significant and lasting impact on music and popular culture.
Teddi Mellencamp was hospitalized recently after waking up covered in sores amid her ongoing cancer battle, according to reports.
