Infuse Lenses Show High Satisfaction, Easy Handling in Real-World Study

Infuse Lenses Show High Satisfaction, Easy Handling in Real-World Study

March 11, 2026 Ananya Mittal - World Editor News

Contact lens wearers seeking clear, comfortable vision may find a new option promising, according to real-world data presented at the Southeastern Council of Optometry (SECO) meeting in late February 2026. A recent evaluation suggests that Infuse for Astigmatism daily disposable contact lenses offer both easy handling and consistent clarity, particularly appealing to those new to contact lens wear.

A Focus on New Wearers

The study, led by John Womack, OD, chief medical officer at West Point Optical Group/Family First Vision Care in Canton, Georgia, specifically examined the experiences of 208 individuals using Infuse for Astigmatism lenses (kalifilcon A, Bausch + Lomb) over a five-day period. A significant portion of the participants – 89 individuals – were new to contact lens wear, a demographic often facing challenges with lens handling. Previous research has highlighted that difficulty with lens handling is a primary reason why new contact lens wearers discontinue use.

Dr. Womack explained to Healio that the study aimed to address this issue, seeking a lens that could improve traction with this underserved population and provide a more positive initial experience. “That’s why we chose to study Infuse for Astigmatism, to see how we could gain traction with this underserved population and offer them more contact lenses,” he said.

High Marks for Handling and Clarity

The evaluation utilized a five-question online survey with sliding scales, allowing participants to rate various aspects of their lens-wearing experience. Responses were further validated through follow-up phone calls with 60% of participants. The results were overwhelmingly positive: 92.1% of participants rated their overall lens experience as good to excellent, and an impressive 95.5% reported that the lenses were easy to handle. 87.6% indicated an intention to continue using the lenses.

Beyond ease of use, the study also assessed visual performance. 83.1% of participants reported consistent clear vision throughout the day, and 79.8% experienced clear vision while driving at night. A substantial 77.5% of participants noted a reduction in halos and low-light glare, common visual disturbances that can affect contact lens wearers.

Real-World Application and Patient Recommendation

The positive feedback extended to willingness to recommend the lenses to others, with 93.3% of participants stating they would recommend Infuse for Astigmatism to friends or family. This high level of satisfaction suggests the lenses could be a valuable option for both new and existing contact lens wearers seeking a comfortable and reliable vision correction solution.

“A lens that can perform well and can perform quick and be reproducible is something that I think excites all optometrists,” Womack said. “We actually have something new to be able to serve our patients, and it performs well.”

Study Details and Methodology

The data presented at SECO 2026 was derived from the experiences of 208 participants, with nearly half being new to contact lens wear. Participants completed an online survey assessing their experience with Infuse for Astigmatism lenses over a five-day period. The survey incorporated sliding scales for rating various aspects of lens wear, and responses were confirmed through phone interviews with a significant portion of the study group. The study, titled “New contact lens wearers’ real-world experience with a novel daily disposable toric contact lens,” was presented at SECO between February 25th and March 1st, 2026, in Atlanta. Disclosure and Funding

It’s important to note that Dr. Womack has disclosed financial relationships with Bausch + Lomb and Lenz Therapeutics, as he receives speaking fees from both companies. This information is crucial for transparency and allows for a balanced interpretation of the study findings. Contact information for customer service is available on Healio’s website.

What This Means for Contact Lens Wearers

The findings from this real-world evaluation offer encouraging news for individuals considering or currently using contact lenses for astigmatism. The high ratings for ease of handling suggest that Infuse for Astigmatism lenses may be particularly well-suited for first-time wearers, potentially reducing the frustration and dropout rates often associated with initial contact lens adaptation. The reported clarity and reduction in visual disturbances like halos and glare further contribute to a potentially improved visual experience.

However, it’s crucial to remember that this study represents a specific sample population and timeframe. Individual experiences may vary, and a comprehensive eye exam with a qualified optometrist is essential to determine the most appropriate contact lens option for each person’s unique needs and vision correction requirements. Further research and long-term studies will be valuable in confirming these initial findings and assessing the sustained performance and comfort of Infuse for Astigmatism lenses over extended periods of wear. The ongoing evaluation of new contact lens technologies remains a vital component of advancing vision care and improving the quality of life for millions of individuals worldwide.
