Iran Issues Fatwa for Jihad Against US & Israel After Trump “Bloodshed” Call

Iran Issues Fatwa for Jihad Against US & Israel After Trump “Bloodshed” Call

March 6, 2026 Ananya Mittal - World Editor News

Baghdad/Tehran – A senior Iraqi Shia cleric has issued a religious decree calling for a holy war, or *jihad*, against the United States and Israel, following recent military actions attributed to both nations. The call to arms, issued by Ayatollah Jawad al-Khalisi, comes amid escalating tensions and increasingly stark rhetoric from religious figures in the region.

The *fatwa*, as such religious edicts are known, is a direct response to what Iranian state media is calling “Operation Epic Fury.” Details surrounding this operation remain limited, but the decree signals a significant escalation in the potential for regional conflict. Simultaneously, Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli, a prominent Iranian cleric, publicly called for “the shedding of Trump’s blood” in a televised address, further inflaming tensions.

Ayatollah Amoli’s statement, delivered shortly after the commencement of what has been described as U.S. Attacks within Iran, emphasized the need for unity. “Now we are on the threshold of a great test and we must be careful to fully preserve this unity,” he stated, according to reports. A video of his address, widely circulated on social media, included a direct call for “shedding Zionist blood, shedding the blood of Trump,” and urged his followers to fight against what he termed “oppressive America.”

A *fatwa* is not merely a suggestion within the Islamic faith; it is a legal-religious ruling issued by a high-ranking cleric. For devout followers, it carries the weight of law, dictating conduct in complex situations. When issued by a figure of Ayatollah al-Khalisi’s stature, it holds considerable authority within the Shia world.

The issuance of this *fatwa* for *jihad* represents a critical turning point in the current conflict for several key reasons. Traditionally, declarations of war are the purview of nation-states. However, a *fatwa* transforms the conflict into an individual religious obligation. Every Muslim, according to this decree, is now duty-bound to defend Islam, even without a direct order from military authorities. This effectively broadens the scope of potential combatants and complicates efforts to contain the conflict.

the call for “the shedding of Trump’s blood” is not intended as a metaphorical statement. It designates the former U.S. President as *Harbi* – an enemy outside the protection of the law – effectively legitimizing violence against him as a religious act, promising divine reward for those who carry it out. This rhetoric moves beyond political opposition and enters the realm of religiously sanctioned assassination.

The simultaneous issuance of these *fatwas* by both Iraqi and Iranian clerics suggests a coordinated effort to mobilize Shia militias across the region, encompassing the so-called “Axis of Resistance” stretching from Lebanon through Syria to Yemen. This coordinated call to arms raises concerns about a potential surge in attacks targeting U.S. And Israeli interests throughout the Middle East.

However, the escalating rhetoric is not confined to the region’s religious leaders. A parallel phenomenon is unfolding within the U.S. Military itself. Reports indicate that over 200 American service members have filed formal complaints alleging the imposition of Christian nationalist ideology by their commanders.

These complaints allege that senior officers are framing the conflict with Iran not as a matter of strategic necessity, but as the fulfillment of biblical prophecy, specifically the events surrounding the Battle of Armageddon. Within these circles, Donald Trump is reportedly viewed as a divinely appointed figure tasked with igniting the final conflict, paving the way for the Second Coming.

The world is facing a deeply unsettling paradox: on one side, radical Islamic clerics are issuing *fatwas* declaring *jihad* and sanctifying the murder of American leaders. On the other, American military leaders are reportedly believing they are commanding the armies of God in the final battle between good and evil. This “metaphysical duel” effectively eliminates any possibility of rational diplomacy.

When both sides believe they are acting on divine mandate, compromise is perceived as a betrayal of faith. The conflict has transcended disputes over oil fields and nuclear centrifuges; it is now a battle over which apocalyptic prophecy will reach to fruition first. The situation represents a dangerous escalation, fueled by religious extremism on multiple fronts, and raises serious concerns about the potential for a wider, more devastating conflict.
