Middle East Conflict: Death Toll Tracker (March 2024)
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to claim lives across the region, with reports emerging from multiple countries. While independent verification of all figures remains challenging, a growing tally paints a grim picture of escalating casualties. Israel has asserted the killing of two senior Iranian officials, a development that could further complicate the already volatile situation.
As of today, , deaths have been reported in the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and Iran. Israeli officials claim to have killed Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and Gholamreza Soleimani, head of Iran’s Basij paramilitary force. Tehran has yet to officially comment on these reported deaths.

Iran
Iranian authorities have not released an official death toll update in over a week. However, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated on Monday that “hundreds of Iranian civilians,” including more than 200 children, have been killed since the conflict began. The U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported on Tuesday that 1,351 civilians, including at least 207 children, have died, along with 1,126 members of military personnel. HRANA also reported 622 additional deaths, but their classification as civilian or military remains undetermined.
Lebanon
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported on Tuesday that at least 912 people have died in the country since Israeli attacks began on . Of those fatalities, 111 were children.
Iraq
Two security sources informed CNN that at least 47 people have died in Iraq since the start of the conflict, the majority of whom were soldiers from the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF). A French soldier also died on Thursday in an attack on a military base in the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
Israel
At least 15 Israelis have died since the conflict began. This includes nine who were killed by a direct missile impact on a residential building in Beit Shemesh, and two Israeli soldiers who died in southern Lebanon on .
United States
Thirteen U.S. Service members have died since the conflict’s outset, including six who perished when their refueling plane crashed in Iraq on Thursday. Another six U.S. Service members were killed in an Iranian attack on an outpost in Kuwait on .
United Arab Emirates
At least eight people have died in the United Arab Emirates since the conflict erupted, including a Pakistani citizen who died from falling debris from an intercepted ballistic missile in Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi media office reported this on Tuesday.
Kuwait
At least six people have died in Kuwait. This includes an 11-year-traditional girl who died from injuries sustained when shrapnel fell on a residential area on .
Oman
An Indian citizen died after an unmanned vessel attacked the oil tanker he was working on 52 nautical miles off the Omani coast, according to the Oman News Agency. Two foreign nationals died in a “drone accident” in the Sohar district of Oman, the country’s defense ministry stated on Friday.
Saudi Arabia
Two people died after a military projectile struck a residential facility in the city of Al-Kharj on , according to the Saudi Civil Defense.
Bahrain
One person died after debris from an intercepted missile caused a fire on a “foreign vessel” in Bahrain’s Salman Industrial City, Bahraini state media reported. Separately, a 29-year-old Bahraini woman died following an Iranian attack on the capital, Manama, according to Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior.
