Passion Pit Announce 2026 Tour & New EP ‘Pretty Penny’
Passion Pit Announces Extensive 2026 North American Summer Tour, New Music on the Horizon
Indie pop favorites Passion Pit have revealed plans for a comprehensive North American summer tour in 2026, coinciding with the announcement of a new EP, Pretty Penny. Tickets for many dates go on sale this Friday, March 20th, following a series of presales currently underway. The tour will see the band, led by Michael Angelakos, performing at major festivals and venues across the United States.
The tour kicks off June 6th at Middle Waves Music Festival in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and continues through August 18th, culminating in a performance at The Bellwether in Los Angeles, California. Festival appearances include Bonnaroo in Tennessee, Summerfest in Milwaukee, and the Up In The Sky Festival in Aspen, Colorado. A full list of dates is available at the end of this article.
A Return to Roots with Pretty Penny
Beyond the tour, Passion Pit is preparing to release Pretty Penny, an EP described as a “companion piece” to their 2008 debut EP, Chunk of Change. Even as specific details regarding the EP’s tracklist and release date remain unconfirmed, a press release indicates the project will showcase Angelakos’s artistic evolution while retaining the signature production and songwriting characteristics that have defined Passion Pit’s sound. This EP marks the first time Passion Pit will release music recorded as a full band.
The Band Behind the Sound
Michael Angelakos will be joined on tour by his longtime bandmates: Giuliano Pizzulo (lead guitar/samples/synths), Eric Scullin (bass/synths), Denzel Cox (organs/synths), and Ben Barter (drums/drum machine). The group’s dynamic interplay of synth, guitar, bass, and drums is central to their signature sound, as highlighted in tour announcements.
A History of Innovation and Independent Spirit
Passion Pit’s journey began as a solo project for Angelakos while he was a student in Boston. He self-released the Chunk of Change EP in 2007, initially selling physical copies at shows for $7. The EP included early fan favorites “Batty Lashes” and “Tons of Guns.” According to reports, Angelakos even faced a minor setback with the CD stickers not being computer-compatible, but quickly rectified the issue.
The band’s breakthrough came with the 2008 re-release of Chunk of Change through Frenchkiss Records, propelled by the success of the single “Sleepyhead.” The song achieved triple platinum certification, including a remix with Sofi Tukker released in March 2025. This success solidified Passion Pit’s place in the indie pop landscape. You can learn more about the band’s early days and discography on Concerts and Tickets.
