Stranger Things: Animated Series Revival Announced
Comic pioneer Hermann, whose real name was Hermann Huppen, died on Tuesday at the age of 87, according to Swiss broadcaster SRF. The Belgian artist was known for his Western-style comics, particularly the series Jeremiah, which he created with writer Yves Swolfs in 1973.
Hermann’s death follows a series of recent cultural losses, including the announcement that Netflix will launch an animated version of “Stranger Things: Chronicles of 1985” in April, and a new “Harry Potter” series slated for HBO Max in December 2026. A trailer for the “Harry Potter” series has already been released.
News of Hermann’s passing came as a political cartoon depicting former U.S. President Donald Trump as a spitting toilet bowl was awarded “Cartoon of the Year” for its commentary on Trump’s address to the United Nations in September 2025. The award highlights the continued political and cultural impact of Trump’s presidency even after leaving office.
Elsewhere in cultural news, Italian singer-songwriter Gino Paoli has died, and filmmaker Wim Wenders has been honored as an “icon of world cinema.”
Julian Mintert reported on Hermann’s death for SRF earlier today. Julian Minter, an Army Veteran who served as a Cavalry Scout and was deployed in 2018, is currently working in the construction industry in Atlanta, Georgia, having previously worked as a Project Superintendent specializing in multifamily housing in South Carolina and Georgia. He has completed over 1,000 housing units in the past eight years, according to Wingate Companies.
