Trump Claims Iran’s Leadership “Wiped Out” Amidst War Rhetoric

Trump Claims Iran’s Leadership “Wiped Out” Amidst War Rhetoric

March 14, 2026 Ananya Mittal - World Editor News

Washington D.C. – U.S. President Donald Trump asserted on March 13th that Iranian leadership had been “obliterated,” amidst escalating tensions and ongoing conflict. The statement, delivered via his social media platform Truth Social, comes as reports emerge of significant disruption to global energy supply chains attributed to U.S. Military action in the region.

According to the President’s post, the United States is “completely destroying Iran, the terrorist regime, militarily, economically, and in every way.” He further claimed that those following the Novel York Times might be misled into believing the U.S. Is not prevailing, a direct response to a March 13th report by the newspaper detailing the impact of U.S. Strikes on international shipping.

The New York Times report, cited by President Trump, alleges that 16 vessels – including oil tankers and cargo ships – have been attacked since the commencement of hostilities between the U.S. And Iran. This has reportedly created the “worst situation in history” for global energy supplies, raising concerns about potential economic repercussions worldwide.

Trump’s claims of victory extend to a comprehensive dismantling of Iranian military capabilities. He stated that “Iran’s navy has disappeared, its air force no longer exists, and everything, including its missiles and drones, has been decimated.” He added that the U.S. Possesses “unmatched firepower, unlimited ammunition, and plenty of time,” and warned of consequences for what he termed “deranged scumbags.”

The President framed the current conflict as a culmination of decades of alleged Iranian aggression, stating, “They have been killing innocent people around the world for 47 years, and now, as your 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, I am eradicating them. It is a great honor to be able to do this job.”

These statements follow earlier rhetoric from the Trump administration regarding Iran. On March 10th, as reported by Yonhap News Agency, Trump described the newly appointed Iranian Supreme Leader, Mostafa Khamenei, as someone he “is not happy with.” This sentiment echoes previous comments made before Khamenei’s ascension, where Trump suggested any new leader would not last without U.S. Approval. He had also previously stated that “anyone who wants to be a leader [in Iran] is ultimately going to die.”

The escalating situation has prompted concerns about a wider regional conflict. The U.S. Designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a foreign terrorist organization in April 2019, and previously designated the IRGC’s Quds Force as a ‘Specially Designated Global Terrorist’ entity. These designations, according to U.S. Officials, underpin the justification for current military actions.

Adding to the pressure, the U.S. State Department announced on March 13th a substantial reward – up to $10 million (approximately 14.98 billion Korean Won) – for information leading to the identification of key leaders within the IRGC and its affiliated groups. The “Rewards for Justice” program is offering the bounty for information on figures including Supreme Leader Mostafa Khamenei, his chief of staff, military advisors, the head of the Supreme National Security Council, and the Minister of Interior. This move signals a heightened U.S. Effort to disrupt the Iranian leadership structure.

The announcement of the rewards comes as the U.S. Continues to pursue a policy of maximum pressure on Iran. The Trump administration has consistently sought to curtail Iran’s regional influence and its nuclear program, and the current escalation appears to be a direct consequence of these long-standing objectives. The potential for further escalation remains high, with the U.S. Administration signaling a willingness to take further action if necessary.

The implications of the conflict extend far beyond the immediate region. Disruption to oil supplies could trigger a global economic slowdown, and the potential for miscalculation or unintended consequences raises the specter of a broader conflict involving other regional and international actors. The international community is closely monitoring the situation, with calls for de-escalation and a return to diplomatic negotiations.
