Zelenskyy Threatens Orbán: Hungary Rejects Ukraine Aid Blockade Pressure
As we reported, Volodimir Zelenskiy issued a threat to Viktor Orbán: if any member of the European Union blocks the €90 billion loan to Ukraine, he will provide the phone number of the individual in question to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, “let them call and talk to him in their own language” – he stated.
Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, firmly rejected Volodimir Zelenskiy’s threatening statements on behalf of the Hungarian government, emphasizing that Hungary cannot be forced to participate in the war in Ukraine or pay for its costs.
The threat has prompted reactions from Magyar Péter and several opposition politicians following Zelenskiy’s statement.
Klára Dobrev and László Toroczkai Deem the Ukrainian President’s Words Unacceptable
The words of President Zelenskiy are unacceptable and “Orbán’s years-long incitement against the neighboring country are unacceptable” – stated Klára Dobrev, president of the Democratic Coalition, in a statement sent to MTI on Friday.
Dobrev emphasized that this “competitive shouting match” is going in a very bad direction, and the competition to see “who can shout louder” is becoming increasingly dangerous, and ultimately the country, not the politicians, will drink the potion.
Zelenskiy’s words are unacceptable, Orbán’s years-long incitement against the neighboring country is unacceptable, and so is the fact that in response, Péter Magyar calls on the EU to stop supporting Ukraine – the statement reads.
Now we don’t need more volume, but sanity and composure. Everyone should take a step back and take a deep breath. In such a situation, we expect responsibility, composure and sound thinking from politicians
– wrote Klára Dobrev.
It is unacceptable that President Zelenskiy threatens the government of Hungary – said László Toroczkai, president of the Mi Hazánk Movement.
The corrupt Ukrainian president, completely out of his mind, is spewing terror
– said the party leader. He added that this is unacceptable, as is the terror against Hungarians in Transcarpathia. “Hungary must strengthen its defense!” – wrote László Toroczkai.
Jobbik Called for an Apology from Zelenskiy, Compared Him to Putin
President Zelenskiy should withdraw his words and apologize! – demanded the Jobbik Magyarországért Movement on Friday.
In a statement sent to MTI, they called it unacceptable for the leader of a country to threaten Hungary or its leader with military intervention.
The statements of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Thursday evening are in no way different from those made by Russian President Vladimir Putin against Ukraine more than four years ago
– they wrote.
They emphasized that the EU member states have provided €200 billion in support to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Patriots Also Reacted
The Patriots for Europe association issued a statement on Volodimir Zelenskiy’s threat. As they wrote, “statements referring to intimidation or violence are incompatible with democratic principles and the mutual respect that should characterize relations between partners”.
They also recalled that since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the EU member states have provided two hundred billion euros in support to Ukraine.
