Arthur Cabral: Botafogo Forward’s Career & Stats 2024

Arthur Cabral: Botafogo Forward’s Career & Stats 2024

March 15, 2026 Carlos Moreno - Sports Editor Sports

São Paulo, Brazil – Corinthians have initiated talks to acquire forward Arthur Cabral from Botafogo, according to multiple reports emerging on March 15, 2026. The move signals Corinthians’ intent to bolster their attacking options, particularly with an eye towards providing support and competition for current forward Yuri Alberto.

The initial approach, as reported by ESPN and UOL Esporte, centers around a potential loan deal that would witness Cabral join Corinthians until the end of the current season. However, the structure of any permanent transfer remains open for discussion. Botafogo acquired Cabral in June 2025 for a reported R$95 million, a significant investment that may influence their willingness to part with the player.

Corinthians’ interest in Cabral isn’t new. According to UOL Esporte, the club’s scouting department, led by football manager Renan Bloise, had been monitoring the player’s progress even during his time with Benfica in Portugal. Bloise and his team evidently view Cabral as a valuable addition, capable of filling a potential void in the attack should Yuri Alberto become unavailable or if the club decides to pursue a sale during the mid-season transfer window.

The need for attacking depth at Corinthians has become increasingly apparent. Whereas Yuri Alberto remains a key figure, the performances of Pedro Raul and young Gui Negão have not consistently met expectations this season. The club is seeking a reliable alternative who can offer similar qualities to Alberto and Cabral has emerged as a prime candidate.

Cabral’s career has taken him across several continents. Originally from Campina Grande, Paraíba, he began his professional journey with Ceará before stints with Palmeiras, Basel (Switzerland), Fiorentina (Italy), and Benfica. His return to Brazil with Botafogo last year was met with anticipation, but he has faced challenges finding consistent form. In 2026, he has appeared in 12 matches for Botafogo, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

Despite his recent struggles, Cabral’s pedigree and experience craft him an attractive option for Corinthians. His ability to play as a central striker, combined with his physical attributes and technical skills, align with the qualities Corinthians are seeking. The club’s coaching staff believes he can contribute effectively to their attacking system.

Interestingly, Arthur Cabral was previously the subject of interest from Italian club Torino earlier in 2026. Torino reportedly submitted a bid of €10 million (approximately R$62.7 million) plus an additional €2 million in performance-based bonuses. However, Botafogo manager Martín Anselmi blocked the move, indicating the club’s initial reluctance to sell the player.

The potential transfer comes at a crucial juncture for both clubs. Corinthians are currently competing in the Campeonato Brasileiro, with upcoming matches against Santos, Chapecoense, and Flamengo. Strengthening their attacking options could prove vital as they navigate a challenging schedule. Botafogo, meanwhile, will need to assess whether selling Cabral is in their best interests, considering his price tag and the potential impact on their own attacking lineup.

The negotiations are still in their early stages, and several hurdles remain. Agreeing on a financial package that satisfies both clubs will be key, as will convincing Cabral to accept a move to Corinthians. However, the initial indications suggest that both parties are open to exploring a deal, raising the possibility of Cabral joining Corinthians in the coming weeks.

The pursuit of Cabral underscores Corinthians’ proactive approach to the transfer market. The club is clearly determined to address their attacking needs and provide coach Anselmi with a squad capable of competing for honors. Whether they can successfully secure Cabral’s signature remains to be seen, but the opening of negotiations represents a significant step towards achieving that goal.
