Bronson Reed Undergoes Surgery After Bicep Tear – WrestleMania Status

Bronson Reed Undergoes Surgery After Bicep Tear – WrestleMania Status

February 28, 2026 Carlos Moreno - Sports Editor Sports

The road to WrestleMania 42 hit a significant snag this week for WWE Superstar Bronson Reed, who underwent surgery on Friday to repair a torn bicep sustained during a qualifying match for the Elimination Chamber. The injury, which occurred this past Monday on RAW, will sideline the former NXT North American Champion and force him to miss “The Showcase of the Immortals” in April.

Reed was competing in a triple-threat match against Jey Uso and the Original El Grande Americano for a spot in the Elimination Chamber when the injury occurred. According to reports, Reed attempted to break up a pinfall and landed awkwardly, resulting in the distal bicep tear. The visual of Reed being escorted to the back by medical staff underscored the severity of the situation, and initial assessments quickly pointed towards the need for surgical intervention.

Following a swift trip to Birmingham, Alabama, Reed underwent a successful surgery. He shared an update with fans via Instagram on Friday, posting, “Surgery done. Tomorrow is DAY ONE. The road back. #BRONSONREED.” While the recovery timeline is still uncertain, veteran journalist Dave Meltzer has predicted Reed could be out of action for six to seven months.

The injury is a particularly cruel blow for Reed, who was widely considered the favorite to win the qualifying match. His absence from WrestleMania 42 represents a significant shift in plans for the WWE, and adds another layer of complexity to the already evolving landscape of the men’s championship picture.

Adding a further twist to the narrative, Jey Uso, who ultimately won the qualifying match against Reed and El Grande Americano, was himself injured during the opening moments of this week’s SmackDown. Uso was reportedly taken by ambulance after an incident in the ring, creating an unexpected opportunity for Logan Paul. Paul will now replace Uso in the Elimination Chamber match, marking his third consecutive appearance in the event.

The Elimination Chamber match in Chicago will now feature Paul alongside Randy Orton, LA Knight, Cody Rhodes, Je’Von Evans, and Trick Williams, all vying for the chance to face Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42, scheduled for April 18 or 19 in Las Vegas.

Reed’s misfortune is compounded by the fact that he is the second member of “The Vision” stable to be sidelined with an injury. His partner, Bron Breakker, is currently recovering from hernia surgery, leaving the future of the group uncertain. The injuries to both Reed and Breakker have necessitated “heavy rewrites” for WrestleMania 42 plans, according to Wrestling Inc.

The timing of these injuries is particularly unfortunate, coming just weeks before WrestleMania, WWE’s biggest event of the year. The “Super Bowl of Professional Wrestling” demands peak performance from its stars, and the loss of two prominent names like Reed and Breakker will undoubtedly impact the overall card and storylines.

While the immediate future looks challenging for Bronson Reed, his message of resilience – “Tomorrow is DAY ONE. The road back.” – signals his determination to return to the ring. The WWE Universe will be watching and hoping for a full and speedy recovery for the “Massive” man, as he embarks on the long journey back to competition.
