FOX Sports Scores 38 Sports Emmy Nominations: IndyCar, MLB, NFL & Stars Honored

March 25, 2026 Carlos Moreno - Sports Editor Sports

LOS ANGELES – FOX Sports received a total of 38 Sports Emmy® nominations, as announced today by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences as part of the 47th Annual Sports Emmy® Awards. The nominations recognize outstanding programming and live-event coverage across FOX and FS1, showcasing a broad spectrum of sports entertainment.

Leading the network’s impressive tally, FOX INDYCAR earned eight nominations in its inaugural season. The recognition highlights the network’s commitment to motorsports and its coverage of the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500. The Indy 500 broadcast itself received nominations for Outstanding Technical Team Event and Outstanding Open/Tease, acknowledging the complex logistical and creative efforts involved in producing the live event. Further nominations for the Indy 500 coverage extended to writing, camera work, and editing, demonstrating a comprehensive appreciation of the broadcast’s quality.

FOX MLB as well garnered significant attention, securing eight nominations. The network’s coverage of the 121st World Series, featuring the Toronto Blue Jays versus the Los Angeles Dodgers, was nominated for Outstanding Live Special: Championship Event. Additional nominations recognized the network’s playoff coverage, studio show presentation, and technical team achievements. The 95th MLB All-Star Game also received a nod, being honored with Outstanding Live Special: Non-Championship Event.

FOX NFL was also well-represented, receiving six nominations. These included recognition for Outstanding Live Series, Outstanding Playoff Coverage, and the technical and creative aspects of its studio and live event productions. Nominations for Outstanding Graphic Design: Event/Show, Outstanding Studio or Production Design/Art Direction, and Outstanding Audio/Sound: Live Event further underscored the network’s dedication to delivering a high-quality viewing experience for football fans.

Beyond the event coverage, several on-air personalities from FOX Sports were individually recognized for their contributions. Tom Brady, now a prominent analyst for FOX Sports, received a nomination. Joe Davis, Greg Olsen, Bill Raftery, Tom Rinaldi, and Alex Rodriguez were also nominated, reflecting the depth of talent within the network’s broadcasting team. Brady’s nomination is particularly noteworthy given his recent transition from the playing field to the broadcast booth, and his involvement with the Indy 500 as a passenger in Jimmie Johnson’s two-seater IndyCar.

The recognition extends to FS1’s studio programming as well. FIRST THINGS FIRST, the network’s daily sports talk show, received its first nomination for Outstanding Studio Show: Daily, acknowledging its growing influence in the sports media landscape.

The Indianapolis 500 broadcast’s nominations are particularly interesting in light of Tom Brady’s participation in the pre-race festivities. As reported on May 14, 2025, Brady rode with seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson in the IndyCar two-seater, often referred to as “the fastest seat in sports,” just before the green flag. Johnson, who has 29 career INDYCAR starts, described the energy surrounding the Indy 500 as “unlike anything I have experienced before.” Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion himself, echoed that sentiment, stating during the FOX broadcast that it was his first time attending the event and calling it “incredible.”

This year’s Indy 500, held on May 25, 2025, saw a delayed start due to rain, but ultimately delivered the high-octane racing action fans expect. Michael Strahan also participated in the pre-race ceremonies, driving the pace car. The event, broadcast on FOX, began at 10 a.m. Eastern, with the green flag dropping at 12:45 p.m. Eastern.

Jimmie Johnson’s connection to Brady extends beyond the racetrack. Johnson is a co-owner of Legacy Motor Club, a NASCAR team in which Knighthead Capital Management, a firm where Brady is an investor, holds a minority interest. This shared business connection added another layer of intrigue to their pre-race experience.

The nominations for FOX Sports reflect a year of comprehensive sports coverage, from the high-speed action of INDYCAR to the championship battles in MLB and the intensity of NFL playoff football. The recognition of both the live event productions and the on-air talent underscores the network’s commitment to delivering a premium sports viewing experience.
