IInspiration (Cassie Lee & Jessie McKay) Debut in AEW: Eyeing Gold & New Opponents
The IInspiration – Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay – are officially All Elite, and they’re eager to make their mark on the AEW women’s division. After debuting at an AEW House Rules event in Australia in February, the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions made their televised debut on the February 26th episode of AEW Dynamite, though their in-ring debut on the March 4th episode of Dynamite was a swift one.
Speaking recently on For the Love Of Wrestling, Lee and McKay discussed their excitement about joining AEW and the opportunities that lie ahead. Their initial debut in Brisbane, Australia, held particular significance for the duo, both natives of the country.
“Oh my gosh, it’s so exciting… And to have our debut in Brisbane, Australia, so our home country, just puts the cherry on top… We’re excited,” McKay said. “You’ll see so many possibilities. Hopefully, we receive to share the ring with girls that we’ve never been inside the ring with before. So, just so many opportunities that we’re just ready for.”
The IInspiration’s arrival adds depth to AEW’s women’s tag team division, a landscape already featuring established teams like The Brawling Birds (Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor) and the reigning AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions, Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron. Their initial target, however, appears to be Hayter and Windsor, whom they blamed for spoiling their debut at the House Rules Australia event.
Lee emphasized their desire to compete against the entire AEW roster, expressing a hunger for new challenges and a pursuit of championship gold. “It’s not so much that there’s like one or two people we want to work with. It’s the whole entire roster,” she explained. “Because a lot of them we haven’t shared a locker room or a ring with before. I consider what we are most excited about is to set our eyes on the gold and make some history.”
Their first televised match on Dynamite, however, didn’t head as planned. Facing The Brawling Birds, Lee and McKay suffered a quick defeat in under 30 seconds. The match saw Hayter and Windsor immediately attack The IInspiration, preventing them from fully executing their entrance and securing the win with their tag team finisher, Two Birds One Stone.
The swift loss was a stark contrast to the confidence displayed by Lee and McKay in their pre-match promo, where they vowed to “inspire the masses” and suggested their opponents lacked the courage to face them. The Brawling Birds, however, quickly silenced those claims, improving their record to 4-0 since forming as a team earlier this year.
The IInspiration’s debut on Dynamite was preceded by a vignette on AEW Collision, where they directly confronted The Brawling Birds, accusing them of ruining their initial appearance at the House Rules Australia show. This set the stage for their match on Dynamite and established an immediate rivalry.
The addition of The IInspiration to the AEW roster comes at a time when the company is actively bolstering its women’s division. The recent debut of Lena Kross, aligning with Megabad, further demonstrates Tony Khan’s commitment to expanding the talent pool and creating compelling storylines.
Looking ahead, AEW Revolution 2026, scheduled for March 15 in Los Angeles, will feature a significant match between Andrade El Idolo and Bandido. This match was confirmed after Andrade secured a victory over Tomohiro Ishii on AEW Collision, prompting a confrontation with Bandido, who had previously issued an open challenge for a Revolution bout. Bandido enters the match as the reigning ROH World Champion.
Likewise confirmed for AEW Dynamite on March 12th is an AEW Women’s World Championship match between Thekla (c) and Thunder Rosa, as well as an AEW World Championship match pitting MJF (c) against ‘The Jet’ Kevin Knight. The IInspiration are also scheduled to compete on this episode, marking their first official match for the company.
Despite the quick loss on Dynamite, The IInspiration remain optimistic about their future in AEW. Their stated goal of challenging for the championship gold and working with the entire roster suggests they are prepared to contribute to the ongoing evolution of the AEW women’s division. Their Australian roots and established wrestling pedigree position them as a potentially significant force in the coming months.
