NXT Stars’ Fast WWE Success: Je’Von Evans Explains Why He’s Not Surprised

NXT Stars’ Fast WWE Success: Je’Von Evans Explains Why He’s Not Surprised

March 23, 2026 Carlos Moreno - Sports Editor Sports

The recent influx of NXT graduates to the WWE main roster has been nothing short of impactful, and Je’Von Evans is among those quickly making a name for himself. Evans, along with Oba Femi and Trick Williams, has seamlessly transitioned to the big leagues, delivering memorable moments and solidifying their positions as rising stars.

Evans recently appeared on the “Unlikely” podcast with Adrian Hernandez, discussing the surprisingly swift success he and his fellow NXT alumni are experiencing. He expressed a lack of surprise, attributing their immediate impact to their ability to continue performing at the level that brought them to the WWE. “Honestly I’m not, bro,” Evans said. “I feel like we all saw something that we was just good at, and we just put pedal to the metal to it. And we’ve just been doing our thing, you know what I mean? And obviously, us doing our thing got us to where we’re at now.”

The success isn’t limited to Evans, Femi, and Williams. Other NXT call-ups, like Kelani Jordan and Kiana James, are also finding their footing. Even established stars like Lash Legend are achieving new heights, currently holding a tag team championship. Evans highlighted this collective success, emphasizing the dedication and hard work that has propelled them forward. “Kelani doing her thing; Kiana, she doing her thing. Me, Trick and Oba, you know, big three in NXT we just got called up, you know what I mean? Lash, she’s what? Tag champ now, right? One half, right?”

Evans’ own journey has been particularly noteworthy. His impressive 48-minute performance in the 2026 Royal Rumble, as reported by Wrestling Inc., immediately caught the attention of fans and critics alike. He outlasted both Williams and Femi in the match, and even shared the ring with WWE legend Brock Lesnar. The experience, while physically demanding, was a dream come true for the 22-year-old.

The opportunity to compete against, and even take moves from, some of the biggest names in the industry has been surreal for Evans, a lifelong fan. He recounted interactions with Randy Orton and CM Punk, and the sheer disbelief of having Triple H acknowledge his performance. “Bro, it’s hard to [not get lost in it all], you feel me? It’s hard to think about that and just be like, not geek out over it,” Evans explained. “It’s just such a great feeling. I’ve had the moments with Randy, you know? I’ve had talks with with Punk. I’ve had — my bosses are DX. It’s like, ‘What, bro?’ This is insane. I’m lit, I’m literally having the moments, bro.”

The realization of these moments is still sinking in. Evans described the shock of receiving a text message from Randy Orton, a testament to the respect he’s already earned within the WWE locker room. “I see Randy, I get a text from Randy. I’m like, ‘Bro, Randy Orton’s texting my phone. It’s like, ‘What is life?’”

Evans’ Royal Rumble performance wasn’t just about longevity; it was about embracing the opportunity to learn and grow. As Fightful reported, he was genuinely excited to experience Lesnar’s signature moves, even while acknowledging the pain. He described the feeling of being scooped up by Lesnar, accepting the inevitability of an F5, and feeling grateful for the experience. “But that moment, me getting scooped up by Brock Lesnar, in my head, I was like, alright, Brock is strong. I can’t get out of this one. But, I’m about to take an F5, and it’s about to be wonderful… You just gotta be grateful. I’m just grateful that I have the opportunity and grateful that I stayed in the ring for such a long time. Just to be in the ring with GOATs.”

Following his strong showing in the Royal Rumble, Evans secured a victory over El Grande Americano II (Ludwig Kaiser) on Monday Night Raw, with assistance from El Grande Americano I (Chad Gable), further solidifying his position as a force to be reckoned with on the main roster.

The success of Evans and his NXT counterparts signals a bright future for WWE, showcasing the depth of talent cultivated within its developmental system. Their ability to seamlessly transition to the main roster and make an immediate impact is a testament to their dedication, skill, and the effectiveness of the NXT program. As Evans continues to navigate his WWE journey, he remains focused on embracing every opportunity and living out his childhood dreams.
