Randy Orton Wins Elimination Chamber, Heads to WrestleMania | WWE Results & Highlights
The Men’s Elimination Chamber main event at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, delivered a chaotic and surprising conclusion to the Road to WrestleMania 42, as six top stars battled for a championship opportunity. Randy Orton emerged victorious, earning the right to challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
The match field included Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans, LA Knight, and Logan Paul. The inclusion of Paul was already steeped in controversy, as he entered accompanied by Austin Theory and Paul Heyman, following an attack on Jey Uso earlier in the week by a masked assailant.
Trick Williams, competing in his first Elimination Chamber match, received a raucous reception. LA Knight entered for his second appearance inside the unforgiving structure, while Logan Paul, already familiar with the environment, entered third. Randy Orton was the final Superstar locked inside a pod, putting him on the verge of surpassing John Cena’s record for most time spent in the Elimination Chamber.
The match began with Je’Von Evans and Cody Rhodes, immediately establishing a fast-paced and physical contest. Evans showcased his athleticism with innovative offense, while Rhodes eventually grounded the high-flyer, demonstrating his determination to secure a championship opportunity. The commentary team highlighted Rhodes’ desperation, emphasizing the stakes of the match.
Trick Williams entered the fray first from a pod, immediately impacting the match by dropping Rhodes. Williams and Evans revisited their rivalry from their time in NXT, exchanging stiff strikes and counters. Logan Paul entered next and was quickly overwhelmed by a three-on-one assault, with his opponents battering him around the chamber and even sending him crashing through a pod.
LA Knight soon joined the battle, focusing his attacks on Paul. Knight relentlessly attacked Paul against the steel structure before a chaotic sequence unfolded atop one of the pods. Knight, Evans, and Paul traded blows high above the ring, culminating in Knight delivering a BFT to Evans from the top of the pod, leaving both competitors vulnerable.
Randy Orton’s entry shifted the momentum. “The Viper” methodically dismantled his opponents with clotheslines and powerslams, increasing the intensity and signaling the looming eliminations.
Evans executed a spectacular Frog Splash on Williams, but Logan Paul quickly capitalized with a Paulverizer, eliminating Evans. Knight nearly secured a pinfall victory over Rhodes, but a hesitant official prevented the elimination. Moments later, Paul struck Knight with a low blow and rolled him up for another elimination.
Paul continued his opportunistic tactics. After Rhodes hit a Cross Rhodes on Williams, Paul shoved him aside and stole the pin, eliminating Williams and marking his third elimination of the night.
A masked figure then stormed the ring, but was quickly unmasked by Adam Pearce, revealing a decoy. The true shock came seconds later as the real masked attacker revealed himself to be Seth Rollins. Rollins immediately attacked Paul, creating an opening for his elimination and narrowing the field to Orton and Rhodes.
With only Orton and Rhodes remaining, the match reached its climax. Drew McIntyre unexpectedly stormed the ring and blasted Rhodes with the Undisputed WWE Championship. He prepared to deliver a Claymore Kick, but Orton intervened with a timely RKO on McIntyre. Rhodes responded with a Cross Rhodes on the champion, only for Orton to strike out of nowhere with another RKO on Rhodes.
Orton secured the pinfall victory over Rhodes, earning his ticket to WrestleMania and a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship. The victory was particularly significant as Orton now stands as the number one contender, emerging from what many are calling one of the most chaotic Elimination Chamber matches in recent memory.
