Sigma Olomouc Fans to Mainz: Special Train Route & Details

Sigma Olomouc Fans to Mainz: Special Train Route & Details

March 18, 2026 Carlos Moreno - Sports Editor Sports

OLOMOUC, CZECH REPUBLIC – A dedicated train, dubbed the “Modrobílý expres” (Blue and White Express), departed from Olomouc late Wednesday evening carrying approximately 750 fans of SK Sigma Olomouc to Mainz, Germany, for the second leg of their Conference League round of 16 tie against 1. FSV Mainz 05. The journey, initially planned to seize a more northerly route, was adjusted due to logistical challenges in Germany and now includes a stop in Prague.

Despite the significant distance, fans shouldn’t expect a luxurious travel experience. According to a statement from České dráhy (ČD), the Czech national railway operator, the train consists of 14 carriages drawn from reserve stock. These are largely older “B” class carriages, colloquially known as “koženky” (leatherettes) due to their original seat coverings. Petr Šťáhlavský, a ČD spokesperson, clarified the composition of the train, stating it includes carriages of types B, AB, A, and one Bmz, all meeting the requirements for international travel (RIC).

Comfort will be limited. Only one carriage – number 3 – is equipped with electrical outlets, meaning the originally planned catering service has been cancelled. Fans have been advised by Zbyněk Müller, Sigma Olomouc’s fan liaison, to bring ample food, drink, and portable power banks for the trip. “We ask all fans to respect the instructions of the organizers. We recommend that you bring enough food and drink with you on the journey and possibly also power banks to charge your phones,” Müller said, as reported by Olomoucký deník.

The train, designated Ex10400, experienced a slight delay, departing at 10:33 PM local time. The revised route takes the train through Zábřeh na Moravě and Prague main station, where it is scheduled to arrive at 1:15 AM. Originally, a stop in Prague-Holešovice was planned but was altered due to the route change.

The logistical complexities extend beyond the route. ČD is responsible for operating the train within the Czech Republic, but once it crosses into Germany, TrainLog takes over as the executing carrier, handling the route and all associated operational requirements. The locomotive power is also split; a Siemens Vectron electric locomotive will handle the electrified sections of the line, while a Länderbahn Class 223 diesel locomotive will be used on non-electrified portions.

Sigma Olomouc earned their place in the Conference League knockout stages with a victory in last year’s Czech Cup. They overcame Lausanne-Sport of Switzerland in the play-off round, drawing 1-1 at home before winning 2-1 away. The first leg of their round of 16 tie against Mainz ended in a goalless draw in Olomouc.

The journey represents a significant undertaking for Sigma Olomouc’s loyal fanbase. The club’s supporters are demonstrating their commitment by traveling a considerable distance to support their team in a crucial European fixture. Fans are expected to arrive in Mainz around midday on Thursday, with the return journey scheduled for approximately 11:00 PM, contingent on the match result.

While the travel arrangements may be basic, the enthusiasm of the Sigma Olomouc supporters remains undiminished. The “Modrobílý expres” embodies the passion and dedication of a fanbase eager to observe their team compete on the European stage.
