TelevisaUnivision & Apple Partner for Spanish-Language F1 Coverage in US

TelevisaUnivision & Apple Partner for Spanish-Language F1 Coverage in US

March 7, 2026 Carlos Moreno - Sports Editor Sports

TelevisaUnivision and Apple have forged a partnership to deliver Spanish-language coverage of Formula 1 racing to audiences in the United States, a move that expands the reach of the sport to a key demographic. The collaboration will see Univision simulcast one Formula 1 race this season, accompanied by dedicated pre- and post-race programming specifically designed for Spanish-speaking viewers.

The specific race selected for the Univision simulcast has not yet been announced, but the agreement underscores the growing popularity of Formula 1 within the U.S. Hispanic community. Marco Liceaga, Senior Vice President of Sports Rights Acquisitions & Commercial Partnerships at TelevisaUnivision, highlighted this connection, stating, “Formula 1 is one of the fastest growing sports in the US, and as the sport’s official broadcast partner in Mexico, we’ve seen firsthand how deeply Hispanic fans connect with it.”

This partnership arrives as Apple enters its first season as the exclusive U.S. Rights holder for Formula 1, having secured a deal worth approximately $140 million per year beginning with the 2026 season and extending through 2030. Apple’s commitment to the sport is further demonstrated by a recent agreement with Netflix, where the streaming platform will simulcast the Canadian Grand Prix in May. In return, Apple will simulcast the eighth season of Netflix’s Drive to Survive series on its Apple TV+ streaming service.

TelevisaUnivision will also leverage its multiplatform ecosystem to promote Apple TV’s Formula 1 coverage throughout the season. Race highlights will be featured on Univision and TUDN, and integrated into studio programs like “La Jugada” and “Contacto Deportivo,” providing comprehensive analysis and storytelling around the championship.

The timing of this collaboration is particularly noteworthy given the presence of Sergio Perez, the sole Mexican driver in Formula 1, who will compete for the new Cadillac team. Perez’s participation is expected to further galvanize interest among Hispanic fans, building on TelevisaUnivision’s existing role as the official broadcast partner for Formula 1 in Mexico through 2028.

This expansion of F1 coverage strengthens TelevisaUnivision’s already robust portfolio of Spanish-language sports rights. The broadcaster currently holds the rights to Mexican soccer’s Liga MX and Liga MX Femenil, Leagues Cup, the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, the Mexican men’s and women’s national teams, the Concacaf Nations League, Gold Cup, and Champions Cup, UEFA European qualifiers, Major League Baseball, and the United Soccer League.

The 2026 Formula 1 season is set to commence with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 8th, and will consist of 24 races culminating in the final race in Abu Dhabi in early December. This partnership between TelevisaUnivision and Apple aims to capitalize on the sport’s momentum and deliver a compelling viewing experience to a rapidly growing audience.
