Android 17 Beta 2 Available for OnePlus 15 & Oppo Find X9 Pro

Android 17 Beta 2 Available for OnePlus 15 & Oppo Find X9 Pro

March 25, 2026 Sarah Wu - Tech Editor Tech and Science

The Android 17 Beta 2 release is expanding beyond Google’s Pixel devices, now available for the OnePlus 15 and OPPO Find X9 Pro. While this marks an important step in the Android 17 development cycle, offering broader testing opportunities, the current builds are explicitly aimed at developers and advanced users, and arrive with a significant list of known issues.

Google’s next major Android update, Android 17, was previously limited to Pixel smartphones for beta testing. The goal is to achieve platform stability in March, a key milestone as it signifies the finalization of the SDK and NDK APIs. This allows app developers to target SDK 37 and publish their applications to the Google Play Store with confidence.

Android 17 Beta for First Non-Pixel Devices

With the OnePlus 15 and OPPO Find X9 Pro, both companies are extending the Android 17 Beta 2 testing phase beyond the Pixel range. OnePlus notes that this pre-release version is primarily intended for developers and experienced users. “Early access to Android 17 allows app developers and other early adopters in our community to start creating even better software experiences,” the company states.

OnePlus strongly advises against installing the software if you lack experience in software development or rely on the device for daily use. The company likewise warns that installing the beta could potentially “brick” the device, rendering it unusable.

OnePlus also highlights several known issues. Installing the beta will trigger a factory reset, erasing all device data. Casting functionality is currently disabled. Users may also encounter screen flickering, crashes, system instability, and malfunctions in certain system apps and settings. Camera issues, including a potential black screen in specific scenarios, are also reported. Compatibility problems with third-party applications are also possible.

Oppo echoes similar warnings for the Find X9 Beta, citing numerous bugs and potential instability. The company notes that the device may freeze or malfunction under certain circumstances, and display errors may occur in system apps and settings.

Also Motorola Prepares Beta

OnePlus and Oppo aren’t the only manufacturers offering an Android 17 beta program. Motorola has also announced one, though it appears to be in an earlier stage. The manufacturer is currently seeking willing participants within its community to test the beta on select models. In addition to the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion, Edge 60 (Fusion), Moto G86, and Moto G57, testers may also be able to try the Android 17 beta on the Moto G57 Power.

Unlike OnePlus and Oppo, which provide the software for download and flashing, those interested in participating in Motorola’s beta program must fill out a form and wait for an invitation from the manufacturer.

For those who prefer a stable experience, it’s best to wait for the final updates. Google plans to release a stable version of Android 17 for Pixel devices in June. Updates for devices from other manufacturers typically follow weeks or months later. Last year, Samsung was among the first manufacturers after Google to release devices with One UI 8 based on Android 16 out of the box. Some manufacturers still haven’t updated some of their devices with Android 16, which Google released in June 2025.

The expansion of the Android 17 beta program to OnePlus and OPPO devices represents a broadening of the testing ecosystem, but it’s crucial to remember that these early builds are intended for developers and those comfortable with potential instability. The risks, including data loss and device malfunction, are significant, and users should proceed with caution.
