Elgato & Voicemod: Stream Deck & Wave Link Get New Voice Effects

March 13, 2026 Sarah Wu - Tech Editor Tech and Science

Elgato and Voicemod have deepened their collaboration, integrating Voicemod’s real-time voice changing and soundboard effects directly into Elgato’s Wave Link and Stream Deck software. This move aims to streamline the creative process for streamers and content creators, offering a more seamless experience for audio customization. The integration, announced earlier this week, eliminates the need for users to run Voicemod as a separate application, reducing system load and simplifying setup.

How the Integration Works

Traditionally, streamers wanting to use Voicemod’s extensive library of voice effects and soundboards needed to run the Voicemod application alongside their streaming software (like OBS Studio or Streamlabs Desktop) and audio management tools (like Elgato’s Wave Link). This could introduce complexity and potential performance issues. The recent native integration bypasses this by embedding Voicemod’s technology directly within Wave Link and Stream Deck.

Wave Link users will now discover Voicemod effects available as audio inputs, allowing them to apply voice changes and sound effects to their microphone audio directly within the Wave Link interface. Stream Deck users gain dedicated buttons that can trigger Voicemod effects and soundboard clips with a single press. This integration is achieved through a new plugin architecture within both platforms, allowing for a more cohesive workflow. According to TechPowerUp, this integration represents a significant step towards a more streamlined experience for content creators.

Impact on Streamers and Content Creators

The primary beneficiaries of this integration are live streamers, YouTubers, and other content creators who frequently use voice modulation or sound effects in their content. The simplified workflow reduces the cognitive load during broadcasts, allowing creators to focus more on engagement and performance. The reduced system resource usage is also a significant advantage, particularly for those using lower-powered computers or streaming at higher resolutions.

Beyond streamers, the integration also appeals to gamers who enjoy customizing their in-game voice communication. Voicemod offers a wide range of effects, from subtle pitch adjustments to full character impersonations, which can enhance the social experience in multiplayer games. The Stream Deck integration allows for quick and easy access to these effects during gameplay. Comics Gaming Magazine highlights the benefit of native support for voice changers and soundboards, making it easier for creators to experiment with different audio styles.

Voicemod and Elgato: A Growing Partnership

This integration builds upon an existing partnership between Elgato and Voicemod. Elgato acquired Voicemod in February 2023, signaling a commitment to expanding its audio and streaming solutions. Prior to the acquisition, Voicemod had already established itself as a popular voice changer application within the streaming community, boasting a large library of effects and a user-friendly interface.

The acquisition allowed Elgato to integrate Voicemod’s technology more deeply into its own ecosystem, creating a more cohesive and powerful suite of tools for content creators. This integration is the first major step in that direction, and further collaborations are likely in the future. Zona MMORPG notes that this simplifies one of the most frequently used routines for content creators.

Technical Considerations and Limitations

The integration relies on Voicemod’s existing audio processing algorithms. While Voicemod offers a wide range of effects, the quality and realism of these effects can vary. Some effects may introduce noticeable latency or artifacts, particularly on lower-powered systems. Users should experiment with different effects and settings to find the optimal balance between quality and performance.

Currently, the integration supports Voicemod’s core voice changing and soundboard features. More advanced features, such as real-time noise suppression or AI-powered voice cloning, are not yet integrated. It’s also important to note that users will still need a Voicemod account to access and use the effects, even with the native integration. The integration doesn’t eliminate the need for a Voicemod subscription for access to premium effects and features.

What Comes Next

Elgato and Voicemod are expected to continue refining the integration based on user feedback. Future updates may include support for additional Voicemod features, improved performance optimization, and tighter integration with other Elgato products. The companies are also likely to explore new ways to leverage AI and machine learning to enhance the audio experience for streamers and content creators. Further development will likely focus on expanding the plugin architecture within Wave Link and Stream Deck to support other third-party audio tools and effects.
