POCO X8 Pro & X8 Pro Max: Specs, Price & Release Date

March 17, 2026 Sarah Wu - Tech Editor Tech and Science

POCO has launched its new X8 Pro series smartphones, the X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max, aiming to blend powerful performance with extended battery life and a refined design. These devices represent a new tier – the X Pro series – within POCO’s lineup, and signal a commitment to delivering a premium user experience without a flagship price tag. Both models feature intelligent optimization features, like WildBoost Optimization, designed to enhance gaming performance, and incorporate cooling systems to maintain performance under sustained load. The series runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3, promising a responsive and connected user experience.

The X8 Pro Max is the more ambitious of the two, boasting a substantial 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. Powering this device is the Dimensity 9500s chipset, built on a 3nm process, which POCO claims has achieved an AnTuTu score exceeding 3 million. The phone also includes a “3D IceLoop” cooling system, utilizing a large vapor chamber to manage heat during intensive tasks. Perhaps the most notable feature is the battery: the X8 Pro Max offers a capacity ranging from 8,500mAh to 9,000mAh depending on the market, marking the largest battery POCO has ever included in a smartphone. This is coupled with 100W HyperCharge technology, capable of reaching a 50% charge in approximately 24 minutes. The device also supports 27W reverse charging.

X8 Pro Max Specifications

  • Display: 6.83 inch 120 Hz AMOLED
  • Chipset: Dimensity 9500s
  • Camera: 50MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 20MP selfie camera
  • Memory: 12 GB LPDDR5X
  • Storage: 256 GB or 512 GB UFS 4.1
  • Battery: 8500 mAh with 100W HyperCharge and 27W reverse charging
  • Connectivity: Dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0
  • IP66/IP68 dust and water resistance

For users who prefer a more compact form factor, the standard X8 Pro features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display, also with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nit peak brightness. It’s powered by the Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset and equipped with a 6,500mAh battery. Whereas smaller than the Max model’s battery, it still offers substantial endurance. Both models share a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 20MP front-facing camera.

X8 Pro Specifications

  • Display: 6.59 inch 120 Hz AMOLED
  • Chipset: Dimensity 8500-Ultra
  • Camera: 50MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 20MP selfie camera
  • Memory: 8 or 12 GB LPDDR5X

  • Battery: 6500 mAh with 100W HyperCharge and 27W reverse charging
  • Connectivity: Dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0
  • IP68 dust and water resistance

The X8 Pro series emphasizes design as well. The X8 Pro Max features a metal frame and a glass fiber back, aiming for a premium experience. The X8 Pro, prioritizes a slim profile with minimal bezels, resulting in a more portable device. Both phones offer IP68-rated dust and water resistance, providing protection against the elements. The phones also support Wi-Fi 7 (X8 Pro Max) and Wi-Fi 6 (X8 Pro) for prompt wireless connectivity.

Battery Technology and Charging

The apply of silicon-carbon (Si/C) battery technology in both the X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max is noteworthy. GSM Arena reports that Si/C batteries offer improved performance and longevity compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, allowing for faster charging and increased energy density. The 100W HyperCharge technology, supported by both models, is designed to minimize downtime, offering a significant boost in charging speed. The inclusion of 27W reverse charging allows users to top up other devices, such as earbuds or smartwatches, using the phone’s battery.

The POCO X8 Pro Max is available in white, black, and blue color options, with configurations of 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage, starting at €529.90. The POCO X8 Pro comes in black, white, and mint green, with options for 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage, starting at €399.90. Android Headlines also notes that POCO is releasing an Iron Man Special Edition of the X8 Pro Max, appealing to fans of the Marvel superhero.

Chipset Performance and Cooling

The choice of chipsets – Dimensity 9500s for the X8 Pro Max and Dimensity 8500-Ultra for the X8 Pro – reflects POCO’s focus on delivering strong performance at different price points. The Dimensity 9500s, built on a 3nm process, is expected to offer significant improvements in both processing power and energy efficiency. Xiaomi’s global product page highlights the chipset’s all-big-core design and clock speed of up to 3.73GHz. The inclusion of advanced cooling systems, such as the 3D IceLoop in the X8 Pro Max, is crucial for maintaining sustained performance during demanding tasks like gaming. These systems help to dissipate heat, preventing thermal throttling and ensuring a smooth user experience.

The launch of the POCO X8 Pro series demonstrates a continued trend towards offering high-end features in the mid-range smartphone market. The combination of large batteries, fast charging, powerful chipsets, and refined designs positions these devices as compelling options for users seeking a balance between performance, features, and affordability. The availability of the Iron Man Special Edition further expands the appeal of the X8 Pro Max, targeting a specific niche of consumers. The next step will be to see how these phones perform in real-world testing and how they are received by consumers in different markets.
