Samsung Galaxy S26: Price, Specs & Review in Argentina 2024

Samsung Galaxy S26: Price, Specs & Review in Argentina 2024

March 19, 2026 Sarah Wu - Tech Editor Tech and Science

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is now available in Argentina, arriving with a price tag of 3.4 million pesos for the 256GB model, alongside the Galaxy S26 at 2.2 million pesos and the S26+ at 2.8 million pesos. Early impressions of the Ultra, Samsung’s top-tier offering, suggest a refinement of existing features rather than a radical overhaul, focusing on performance and camera capabilities. The device represents a significant investment, but for those seeking the best Android has to offer, the S26 Ultra presents a compelling, if expensive, option.

Snapdragon vs. Exynos: A Performance Divide

A key differentiator for the S26 Ultra – and a point of contention for some – is the processor. The Ultra boasts a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, a customized version of Qualcomm’s flagship chip. Testing indicates this processor is approximately 10% faster than the Exynos 2600 found in the standard S26 and S26+ models sold in Argentina. While this performance boost may not be noticeable in everyday tasks, it’s a significant advantage for demanding applications and gaming. Notably, the Snapdragon variant isn’t exclusive to the Ultra; it’s also available in the S26 and S26+ sold in the United States, though at a different price point (between $1.5 and $2.2 million USD including shipping, but without financing options).

Camera Enhancements: Refining a Proven Formula

Samsung has long been a leader in smartphone camera technology, and the S26 Ultra continues this trend. While the core camera system – including the 200-megapixel main sensor and ultra-wide lens – remains largely unchanged from the S25 Ultra, improvements have been made to the telephoto lenses and image processing. The Ultra features a dual zoom system, with lenses offering 3x and 5x optical zoom. A redesigned periscope telephoto lens, utilizing Samsung’s ALoP (All-in-One Pixel) technology as detailed by Samsung, allows for a more compact design and improved low-light performance. This new design allows more light to reach the sensor, resulting in clearer images in challenging conditions.

Beyond hardware, the S26 Ultra introduces a new video stabilization mode that locks the horizon, preventing unwanted rotation even when the phone is moved dynamically. AI-powered enhancements also improve digital zoom capabilities, reconstructing detail in images zoomed beyond 30x, though the results are still subject to the limitations of digital processing.

Design and Build: A Return to Aluminum

The S26 Ultra marks a shift in materials, moving away from the titanium frame of its predecessor and returning to aluminum. While titanium offers superior strength and weight reduction, aluminum provides a more familiar feel and potentially lowers production costs. The device maintains a similar size and weight to the S25 Ultra, with slightly rounded edges for improved ergonomics. The camera bump, however, remains prominent, making the phone unstable on flat surfaces – a concern likely mitigated by the use of a protective case. The S26 Ultra is also compatible with Qi2, the latest wireless charging standard, and supports magnetic accessories similar to Apple’s MagSafe system.

Privacy and Display: A New Layer of Security

Samsung has introduced a “Privacy Screen” feature on the S26 Ultra, utilizing an optical filter integrated into the OLED panel. This filter reduces the viewing angle, making it tough for others to see the screen content from the side. Unlike traditional privacy filters, the Samsung implementation allows users to adjust the level of privacy or disable it entirely. The screen also retains Gorilla Glass Armor 2 protection, offering enhanced durability against scratches and impacts. While the display maintains a 120Hz refresh rate, it doesn’t reach the higher rates (144Hz or 165Hz) found on some competing devices.

Galaxy AI and Software Features

The S26 Ultra integrates Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite, offering features like real-time photo editing, text summarization, and audio transcription. The AI can also assist with tasks like image searching within the gallery – allowing users to find photos by simply describing their content. Bixby, Samsung’s voice assistant, continues to evolve, aiming to combine tasks and applications for more complex commands, though its functionality remains a work in progress. Integration with Perplexity, an AI-powered search engine, provides additional assistance with content management. A new feature, “Now Nudge,” attempts to anticipate user needs and suggest relevant actions based on on-screen content, but its effectiveness varies.

Battery Life and Charging

The S26 Ultra features a 5000 mAh battery, similar in capacity to its predecessor. While battery life will vary depending on usage, most users should be able to get through a full day on a single charge. The device supports 60W wired charging, allowing it to reach 75% capacity in approximately 30 minutes (a compatible USB-C charger is sold separately). Wireless charging is also supported, at up to 25W, an improvement over the 15W offered by the S25 Ultra. The S26+ supports up to 45W wired charging, while the standard S26 is limited to 25W.

Pricing and Availability

As previously mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is available in Argentina for 3.4 million pesos (256GB storage). Other storage options are available at higher prices, up to 1TB. Samsung offers trade-in programs (up to 45% of the device’s value) and financing options. Purchasing the device from the United States via Amazon can offer a comparable price for the Ultra (around $1580 USD including shipping and taxes), but without the benefits of local financing or trade-in programs. Clarin reports that Chile offers the S26 series at a 20-30% discount compared to Argentina.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra faces competition not only from its predecessors (the S25 Ultra remains a viable option) but also from other high-end smartphones like the Motorola Signature as reported by La Nacion, the Xiaomi 17, and offerings from Google, Nubia, Oppo, and Vivo.

Looking ahead, the success of the Galaxy S26 Ultra will depend on continued software updates, optimization of the Galaxy AI features, and the resolution of any reported issues. Samsung’s commitment to providing long-term support and addressing user feedback will be crucial in maintaining its position at the forefront of the smartphone market.
